Firedogs Sweep Westfield State 3-0|

WESTFIELD, MA - After a long weekend of three conference matches at Middlebury College, the Amherst College women's volleyball team took a more leisurely stroll to non-league rival Westfield State on Tuesday, and swept the Owls 15-5, 15-3 and 15-7.
Amherst improved to 18-3 on the season, as junior setter Meredith DeMeules (Los Angeles, CA) paced the Firedog attack with a match-high 18 assists. Junior outside hitter Erica Hewes (Woodside, CA) and senior Co-captain Liza Abeles (Santa Fe, NM) each had seven kills, while first-year outside hitter Jessica Allen (Fayetteville, NY) added six.
The Firedogs return to action this Friday and Saturday at the Hall of Fame Tournament, hosted jointly by Amherst, Mount Holyoke and Smith College.
Amherst finished its regular season NESCAC slate last weekend with an 8-2 conference record, part of a four-way tie for first place with Bates, Middlebury and Williams College. The NESCAC Championship Tournament kicks off Friday night, November 4 at Bowdoin College.
