AMHERST, Mass. The Amherst College volleyball team steamrolled through the Amherst Invitational on Saturday with a pair of three-game victories, defeating Westfield State College and the United States Coast Guard Academy to improve to 13-1 on the season.

Behind senior Larissa Farrell (Ashfield, MA), who finished with a match-high nine kills, the Owls stayed close in the opening game, before a 5-1 Amherst run opened up a 13-7 lead en route to the 15-10 game victory. The Firedogs cruised from there, taking game two by a 15-5 margin, and taking the match with a 15-4 third-game victory.

In the nightcap against Coast Guard, Hewes teamed up with sophomore Emily Ratcliff (Storrs, CT) to dominate at the net, with the pair combining for 22 of the Firedogs¹ 42 kills in the match. DeMeules posted 25 assists, as the hosts posted a .400 attack percentage for the match, and sophomore Erin Dittus (Brentwood, TN) added five aces to the 15-3, 15-4, 15-5 victory.
