2000 Cross Country Preview
The Amherst women, suffering the loss of senior Dini Pineda, return every other scoring runner from last year's team, and will build on the strengths of former varsity runners Molly Burnett '02, Diana Rancourt '02 and Courtney Jennings '01 as they return from injury.

Katie Scangos is one of the top runners in the country. She should challenge for the NCAA title and lead the team to its first berth at the National Championships. Emily Lobsenz '02, Ali Dimon '03, Laurel Kilgour '03, Emily Dubinsky '03, Burnett, Jennings, Rancourt, Jamie Newman '03 and Katie Famous '01 should provide a solid foundation for an incredible season. In addition, several outstanding first-year runners, including Ali Venti, should help to provide even greater depth to an already strong team.

Unlike the Amherst women, the men are rebuilding but have some key pieces in place for a run at the NESCAC championship. Martin Keck '02 and Nathaniel Robinson '02 will be the front runners but will be challenged by captain Brian Larivee '01, Ben Kozyak '02, and sophomores Alex Lenkoski, Brett Richey and James Johndrow. An extremely strong first-year class, including John Stanton-Geddes, Mike Page, Andrew Schneider, Justin DiVenuta and Jordan Kravitz could have an immediate impact at the varsity level despite their inexperience.
