Amherst Men Second, Women Fourth at ECAC Championship|

NORTH GRAFTON, MA - The Amherst College men's and women's cross country teams may have approached Saturday's ECAC Championships as a nice tune-up for next weekend's NCAA Regional meet, but the Jeffs nearly ran away with a pair of ECAC titles, as the men finished second with 89 points while the women placed fourth with 160.
Paced by sophomore Alex Lenkoski (Wethersfield, CT), junior Nathanial Robinson (Cranston, RI) and first-year harrier Michael Page (Fargo, ND), who finished 13th, 14th and 15th consecutively, Amherst nearly had enough juice to catch eventual men's winner Tufts University, who topped the field with 89 points. First-year John Stanton Geddes (Glendale, MO) and sophomore Carson Taylor (South Windsor, CT) also finished near the lead-pack in 20th and 31st place, respectively, while sophomore Brett Richey (Pittsburgh, PA) and junior Ben Kozyak (Coral Gables, FL) rounded out the Jeffs top finishers.
Meanwhile, the Amherst women fell one point shy of third place finisher Trinity College, just behind Keene State College and eventual team-champion Middlebury. Junior Rebecca Woo (Manchester, NH) and first-year Aparna Nancherla (McLean, VA) both pierced the top-25 in 23rd and 24th place, consecutively. Sophomores Jamie Newman (Woodland Hill, CA) and Laurel Kilgour (Clifton Park, NY) also finished 42nd and 43rd, while first-year standouts Helen Dole (Shelburne Falls, MA) and Alyson Venti (Newton, MA) came in 59th and 77th.
Selected Jeffs will return to action at the NCAA Regional Championship Meet next Saturday.
