Jeffs Spoil Trinity Homecoming 28-20
November 4 - Junior Amherst College running back Okey Ugwonali topped the 150-yard mark for the third time this season and scored a pair of touchdowns, while the Jeffs' defense held off a late Bantam surge as Amherst outlasted host Trinity, 28-20, in a NESCAC showdown on Saturday. Full Story

October 28 - Junior running back Okey Ugwonali rushed for 151 yards and the game's only touchdown, while Amherst College held Tufts University to just 189 yards of total offense, as the Jeffs blanked the visiting Jumbos 8-0, improving to 5-1 on the season for the first time since 1997. Full Story

Cornerback Steve Yung Making Waves on the Gridiron
October 27 - Steve Yung wasn't built for football. He didn't even know how to play the game as a smallish freshman at Hinsdale Central High School in the Chicago suburb of Oak Brook, Ill. Yet, as he strolled by the practice field every afternoon after school and saw the hitting and the horde of barking coaches, he couldn't help thinking to himself, "I'm quick and I'm smart and I can do that." Special Teams Lift Football to 9-7 Win over Wesleyan
October 21 - Derrell Wright '02 returned a punt 68 yards for a touchdown with five minutes remaining in the first half, and Dave Frankel '01 blocked a punt through the back of the end zone with 31 seconds to go before halftime, lifting the football team to a 9-7 victory over Little III rival Wesleyan University in a game dominated by the two defenses. October 14 - Junior Derrell Wright pulled in six passes for 130 yards, including a pair of touchdown grabs, and classmate Okey Ugwonali ran for one score and caught another, as the football team improved to 3-1 with a solid 28-14 victory over previously-unbeaten Colby College on Saturday. October 7 - One week after rushing for 339 yards in a 35-0 win over Bowdoin, the Amherst football team managed only 244 yards of total offense, including 94 on the ground, as they were held scoreless in a loss for the first time since a 21-0 Colby College victory in 1993. Full Story

Football Demolishes Bowdoin, 35-0
September 30 - For the second consecutive week, the Amherst defense posted a shutout. It was the offense, however, that was on display on Saturday, as the Jeffs rattled off four first-half touchdowns en route to a 35-0 thrasing of Bowdoin College. Okey Ugwonali '02 rushed for 169 yards and Kevin Kennard '03 added 136 yards on the ground, as the Jeffs piled up 420 yards of total offense, including 339 rushing yards. Full Story
