Jeffs Ready for Postseason
October 22 - The Amherst field hockey and women's soccer teams, who finished their 2000 regular seasons with records of 13-1 and 9-4-1, respectively, have each earned bids to - and home games in - the first-ever New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Tournament in the two sports, with quarterfinal action set to begin on Tuesday afternoon. F-Hockey Seals Little III With Penalty-Stroke Victory
October 21 - Last Saturday, the field hockey team needed one overtime period to knock off arch-rival Williams College, 1-0. Wednesday, they needed all of two overtimes to defeat Tufts University, 2-1. Saturday, two overtimes wasn't even enough, as the Jeffs converted all four of their penalty strokes, including the clincher by Abby Ouimet '03, for a 2-1 victory over host Wesleyan University (4-1 on strokes) on Saturday. Ackerman's Goal in 2-OT Tops Tufts
October 18 - Junior forward Robin Ackerman put home a feed from classmate Marcy Busch with no time remaining on the clock in the second sudden-death overtime, lifting host Amherst to a heartstopping 2-1 come-from-behind win over visiting Tufts University in cold and wet conditions on Wednesday afternoon. F-Hockey Knocks off Williams in OT
October 14 - Sophomore Abby Ouimet scored on a breakway 3:44 into the first overtime period, as the Amherst field hockey team prevailed in a battle of top-10 teams, handing arch-rival Williams its first loss of the season in a 1-0 final. Full Story

Jeffs Blank Smith 5-0
October 12 - Five different Amherst field hockey players scored, matching a school record, as the host Jeffs improved to 10-1 on Thursday afternoon with a 5-0 blanking of Pioneer Valley rival Smith College. Full Story

Hockey Survives 1-0 Thriller at Middlebury
October 7 - Sophomore Abby Ouimet netted her sixth goal of the season 7:08 into the second half to lift the field hockey team to a hard-fought 1-0 win at Middlebury College, as the fifth-ranked Jeffs improve to 9-1 on the year. Full Story

Jeffs Clinch Playoff Berth With 3-0 Win Over Trinity
October 4 - Junior Co-captain Mairin Brady scored a first-half goal and added a second-half assist, as the host Jeffs used a 21-2 shot margin to overwhelm visiting Trinity College in a 3-0 Wednesday afternoon final on Hitchcock Field. Full Story

Bowdoin Squeaks Past F-Hockey in Overtime
September 30 - Bowdoin College forward Jacky Templeton scored with 7:22 remaining in the first overtime to lift the host Polar Bears to a dramatic 1-0 overtime win over visiting Amherst, snapping the fourth-ranked Jeffs' season-opening win streak at seven. Full Story

September 28 - Junior Amherst College midfielder Marcy Busch scored a pair of first-half goals, and the Jeff defense clamped down in the second half, leading host Amherst to a 2-0 win over visiting Mount Holyoke College on Thursday. Full Story

Bowe Earnes Second Straight NESCAC Player of the Week Award
September 26 - Senior midfielder Gretchen Bowe earned her second consecutive New England Small College Athletic Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week award on Tuesday, after leading the Lord Jeffs to a trio of victories over Springfield, Worcester Poly. September 23 - Co-captain Gretchen Bowe '01 tallied her sixth goal of the season to lead the field hockey team to a 2-1 win over Connecticut College, as the Jeffs improved to 6-0. Full Story

September 19 - In a battle of New England's two best collegiate field hockey teams, seventh ranked Amherst College edged fifth ranked Springfield 2-1 on Tuesday night, avenging a pair of penalty-stroke defeats in their two previous meetings. Full Story
