MEDFORD, MA – The Amherst College women’s volleyball team is off to its best start in the program’s history after defeating Colby College 3-1 Friday night in a NESCAC match-up held at Tufts University.  With the win, Amherst moves to 18-1 on the season.
Amherst needed to work hard for its 18th win, losing the first game of the night, 30-32, and winning in a close second game, 30-26.  The Jeffs took control in the next two games, winning 30-19 and 30-21, respectively, marking the 13th consecutive win for Amherst.

Leading the attack for the Jeffs was senior co-captain Kristin Quinn (Pacific Palisades, CA), who recorded 15 kills on the day.  Junior outside hitters Whitney Kouvaris (Jacksonville, FL) and Jaclyn DeMais (Hillsdale, NJ) helped Quinn in the attack, recording 13 and 12 kills, respectively.  Sophomore Sara Heller (La Canada, CA) did her part in setting up her teammates, picking up 42 assists.

The White Mules move to an even 11-11 on the season with the loss, and will take on Tufts University Saturday.
