Jeffs Drop Bates Easily, 3-0

AMHERST, MA – The Amherst women’s volleyball team easily defeated visiting NESCAC rival Bates College 3-0 Sunday to improve to 16-1 (4-1 NESCAC), dropping Bates to 10-11 (1-3 NESCAC) on the season.
The Bobcats hung with Amherst in the first game, but the Jeffs never trailed after breaking away from a 9-9 tie early in the game, to win 30-23. Amherst continued their dominance in the second game, leading the entire way to a 30-19 victory. Bates hung again with Amherst in the third game, but after a timeout call with the Jeffs winning 21-18, Amherst finished strong and pulled away for a 30-19 victory.
Senior co-captain Kristin Quinn (Pacific Palisades, CA) led the attack for Amherst, finishing the day with 13 kills and no errors, giving her a solid .464 hitting percentage on the day. Quinn also added three solo blocks and six block assists. Sophomore Alison Munzer (Los Angeles, CA) was solid in game three for Amherst, racking up five kills for a hitting percentage of .571, adding two solo blocks in the effort.
The Jeffs return to action Tuesday, October 10, traveling to Westfield State for a non-conference match-up at 7:00 p.m.
