Jeffs Make Quick Work of Emerson, 3-0

September 19, 2006

AMHERST, MA –The Amherst College volleyball team rebounded in dominant fashion this evening, disposing of visiting non-conference foe Emerson College in three straight lopsided games.  With the win, the Jeffs improved to an impressive 6-1 on the season, while Lions of Emerson remained winless at 0-3.

Senior co-captain Kristin Quinn (Pacific Palisades, CA) led the charge for the Jeffs, punishing the Lions defense with 11 kills, 4 blocks, and 3 aces.  Not to be outdone, junior Whitney Kouvaris (Jacksonville, FL) registered 7 kills of her own; both were fed perfect balls all night by second-year superstar Sarah Heller (La Canada, CA), who had notched 34 assists by night’s end.

Also making waves for the Jeffs were junior defensive specialist Julie Berkley (Fullerton, CA), who scorched the Lions for 4 aces as well as 5 digs, and sophomore hitter Alison Munzer who racked up 3 kills.  By all accounts, however, the story of the night was the Amherst defense who only surrendered 43 points in three games.

Amherst takes the floor again on Friday evening at 6 p.m. to kickoff the Amherst Classic.
