Amherst Top Players Set for NCAA Individual Tournament

AMHERST, MA – The NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Committee selected individuals and doubles teams that will compete in the upcoming NCAA Championships. Among those selected nationally, Amherst’s Alicia Menezes (Staten Island, NY) earned a spot in the individual and doubles championship, with Brittany Berckes (Secaucus, NJ) joining Menezes in the doubles competition.
Menezes picked up several impressive wins for the Lord Jeffs in during the team’s run to it third straight NESCAC Championship. Most notably, Menezes defeated Williams College’s number-one player to spark the momentum that pushed Amherst towards the NESCAC Championship win.
Berckes joined Menezes to form one of the most dominant doubles pairings in the nation. Their impressive record of 13-3 during their spring slate demonstrated the importance of the doubles pairing to the success of the team. Berckes also contributed to the Lord Jeff effort by playing out of the number-two spot for Amherst, and winning many crucial matches for the squad.
