MIDDLEBURY, VT – The Amherst College field hockey team dropped its sixth game of the season at Middlebury College on Saturday afternoon, losing to the Panthers 4-0. The Jeffs moved to 2-6 (0-5 NESCAC) on the year, while Middlebury advances to 8-1 (5-1 NESCAC) with the win.
Middlebury scored two goals in each frame, notching their first goal about ten minutes into the first half, when first year Madeleine Macmillan (Milton, MA) netted an unassisted goal. With fourteen minutes left in the first half, Lacey Farrell (Greenwich, CT) assisted on a Dana Rye (Virginia Beach, VA) goal.
Amherst fought hard in the second stanza, as both Molly Malloy (Stamford, CT) and senior co-captain Rachel Carr-Harris (Pleasantville, NY) played well on the offensive end of the field.
The Panthers tacked on another pair of goals in the last 6 minutes, when Nina Daugherty (Greenwich, CT) scored an unassisted goal, and Farrell finished on a Michelle Archambault (Weston, MA) assist.
Both Kathleen Boucher (Washington D.C.) and Jane Mostue (Lincoln, MA) played well in goal in the losing effort.
The Jeffs return to action this Thursday afternoon when visiting non-conference foe Babson visits Hitchcock Field. The start time is set for 4:30 p.m.
