Third-Ranked Jeffs Down No. 12 Wellesley, 7-2

WELLESLEY, MA – The third-ranked Amherst College women’s tennis team improved to 9-2 on Saturday, downing non-conference opponent No. 12 Wellesley College, 7-2. The Blue picked up their first loss of the season, falling to 20-1.

Senior tri-captains Kristen Raverta (W. Springfield, MA) and Hadley Miller (N. Canton, OH) and sophomore Alicia Menezes (Staten Island, NY) were all double winners for the Jeffs, as Raverta got a 6-3, 6-2 win at the top singles spot, Menezes picked up a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 2 and Miller needed three sets to defeat Wellesley’s Hana Freymille at No. 5. Raverta and Menezes combined for a No. 1 doubles win, while Miller paired with sophomore Laura Stein (Rockport, ME) to take No. 3 doubles.

Amherst returns to action Saturday at 11 a.m., hosting No. 8 Williams College.
