Jeffs Play to 0-0 Double-Overtime Stalemate at Colby

FROM A COLBY COLLEGE RELEASE

October 15, 2005

WATERVILLE, ME - The Amherst College women's soccer team battled conference host Colby College to a 0-0 double-overtime stalemate on Saturday afternoon. The Jeffs moved to 4-3-2 (2-2-1 NESCAC) on the season, while the Mules moved to 5-2-3 (2-2-3 NESCAC).

In a game played in a driving rain and on a field wearing the battle wounds of the men's game that had finished just thirty minutes prior, the teams combined for thirty shots, twenty-six of which were on goal, but couldn't find the back of the net.

Amherst junior goalkeeper Piper Crowell (Rafael, CA) registered 12 saves to secure her second shutout of the season, while Colby counterpart Liza Benson (Orchid, FL) finished with 14 stops.

Amherst returns to action Wednesday at 4 p.m. at NESCAC rival Connecticut College.
