Amherst's Anderson Nabs NESCAC Rookie of the Year Honors; Jeffs Place Five On All-Conference Team

November 2, 2005

AMHERST, MA- Amherst College first-year Nicole Anderson (Kailua, HI) was named 2005 NESCAC Rookie of the Year following her eighth-place finish at the cross country conference championships last weekend. Anderson became the third consecutive Jeff to earn the title, following in the footsteps of junior co-captain Shauneen Garrahan (Fairfax Station, CA), who brought home the honor in 2003, and reigning Rookie of the Year Kim Partee (Brentwood, TN). Garrahan's runner up performance last weekend earned her a spot on the All-NESCAC First Team for the third straight year. Anderson was joined on the Second Team by sophomores Heather Wilson (Danvers, MA) and Partee, who placed ninth and 14th at Saturday's meet, respectively.

On the men's side, sophomore Tomas Morrissey (Astoria, OR), the 2004 NESCAC Rookie of the Year and an All-New England honoree in his debut season, garnered his third career all-conference award, taking home second-team plaudits for his 11th-place finish at the conference championships.

Both teams travel to Connecticut College this weekend for the ECAC Championships.
