Amherst Women Second, Men Fifth at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA - The Amherst College women's and men's cross country teams finished second and fifth, respectively, at the UMass Darmouth Invitational on Saturday. Junior All-America Shauneen Garrahan (Fairfax Station, VA) nabbed a seventh-place finish to pace the women, while sophomore Tomas Morrissey (Astoria, OR) placed sixth to lead the men.

Sophomore Heather Wilson (Danvers, MA) followed Garrahan in 15th-place for the women, while sophomores Kim Partee (Brentwood, TN) and Katie Moravec (Chico, CA), and first-year Nicole Anderson (Kailua, HI) finished in 19th, 23rd and 24th, respectively. Sophomore Vanessa Sochat (Amherst, NH) placed 30th and senior Margaret Davis (Richmond, VA) came in 47th to cap the Jeffs' scoring.

On the men's side, rookie harrier Harrison Lakehomer (Eugene, OR) nabbed 26th-place and junior Cooper Knowlton (Montclair, NJ) finished 30th. Also scoring for the Jeffs were sophomore Mike Harbus (New York, NY) in 48th, juniors Rich Wilson (Columbus, OH) and Robert Boley (Mount Pleasant, MI) in 53rd and 68th, respectively, and senior Dave Schreiner (Manhattan Beach, CA) in 80th.

Both squads return to action next Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Jumbo Invitational hosted by Tufts University.
