17th-Ranked Jeffs Open Fall Slate with 7-0 Win Over Salve Regina

AMHERST, MA - The 17th-ranked Amherst College men's tennis team swept all six singles matches and the doubles point to blank visiting Salve Regina University in both teams' season-opener on Friday afternoon.

Amherst senior Jon Godsall (Toronto, ONT) and sophomore Tal Avrahami (Riverdale, NY) won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, while senior Danny Babkes (Baltimore, MD) and first-year Zach Lerner (Scarsdale, NY) both posted 6-0, 6-2 victories. Junior Lenny Lepner (Tartu, EST) and sophomore Mike Mintz (New York, NY) also won in straight sets for the Jeffs.

In doubles play, senior Josh Rilla (Westboro, MA) and first-year Austin Moller (Manhattan Beach, CA) blanked their opponents at No. 2, while Babkes and Lerner won 8-1 at No. 3 and Lepner and sophomore Geoff Schwartz (Dallas, TX) posted an 8-3 victory at No. 1.

Amherst returns to action Tuesday at 3 p.m. at non-conference foe Brandeis University.
