Fifth-Seeded Jeffs Advance To NESCAC Semifinals With 6-1 Win Over Bowdoin

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – The 21st-ranked and fifth-seeded Amherst College men’s tennis team easily defeated fourth-seed Bowdoin College, 6-1, in the quarterfinals of the NESCAC Championship Tournament on Friday. The Jeffs advance to the semifinal round, where they will face top-seeded Middlebury College, tomorrow (Saturday) at 1 p.m. at tournament host Williams College.

On Friday, Amherst nearly swept the singles matches, winning five out of six, and secured the doubles point to cruise to the 6-1 win. Sophomore Tal Avrahami (Riverdale, NY) and rookie Zach Lerner (Scarsdale, NY) each earned a pair of victories on the day, combining to defeat Bowdoin’s Drew McDonald and Alex Caughron, 9-7, at No. 3 doubles, and getting 6-1, 6-1 and 6-3, 6-4 singles wins, respectively.
