No. 14 Jeffs Post Fourth Straight 7-0 Win

AMHERST, MA – The fourteenth-ranked Amherst College men’s tennis team posted their fourth straight 7-0 win on Thursday afternoon. The Jeffs’ latest target was NESCAC and Little Three rival Wesleyan University, which falls to 5-1, while Amherst improves to 8-2.

The Jeffs swept each singles match, the closest being a nailbiter at the no. 1 spot, as senior co-captain Josh Rilla (Westboro, MA) split 6-4 sets with Cardinal Max Kates before prevailing 7-6 in a thrilling tiebreaker. Amherst earned the doubles point as sophomores Tal Avrahami (Riverdale, NY) and Jeff Wan (Staten Island, NY) won at No. 2, and rookie Caleb Rozwenc (Haydenville, MA) and sophomore Sam Maurey (Cape Elizabeth, ME) took the No. 3 match.

Amherst returns to action Saturday at NESCAC foe Bowdoin College at 1 p.m.
