Amherst's Watson, Carr-Harris Score All-NESCAC Field Hockey Honors

November 9, 2005

AMHERST, MA Amherst College juniors Amy Watson (Norwood, MA) and Rachel Carr-Harris (Pleasantville, NY) were named to the 2005 NESCAC Field Hockey All-Conference Team on Wednesday. Both players earned second-team honors as selected by NESCAC coaches.

A talented midfielder with impressive stickwork, Carr-Harris battled through early season injuries to emerge as a dangerous offensive force this fall. A three-year starter for the Jeffs, she was second on the team in points (10), goals (3) and assists (4) this season, and notched the game-winner in the Jeffs' 2-1 win over Bates College.

Watson, a dedicated and tireless competitor, was the anchor for a young defensive unit that included three first-years for the majority of the season. Bringing three years of starting experience to the field, Watson was a stalwart defender for the Jeffs, who allowed only eight goals in their first eight games of the season and shutout three opponents during the run.

Amherst finished 5-9 overall (2-7 NESCAC), narrowly missing out on the final spot in the NESCAC Championship Tournament.
