Jeffs Down Brandeis, Fall to Williams, Springfield at Hall of Fame Invitational
October 24 - After taking a forfeit victory over Wheaton College and defeating visiting Brandeis University 30-11, 30-24, 30-19, on Friday night, the Amherst volleyball team suffered a pair of losses to Williams College and Springfield College on Saturday at the Hall of Fame Invitational Tournament, hosted by Smith College. Amherst senior co-captain Annie Hoeksma and Sophomore Kristin Quinn earned All-Tournament honors as the Jeffs moved to 21-5. Full Story

Jeffs Fall to Tufts, Blank Western Connecticut State, Aurora
October 17 - After suffering its first conference loss of the season on Saturday, falling to visiting Tufts University 22-30, 20-30, 30-22, 30-28, 17-15, the Amherst volleyball team rebounded to defeat visiting non-conference foes Western Connecticut State University, 30-11, 30-25, 30-11, and Aurora University, 30-23, 30-15, 30-28, on Sunday. Amherst senior co-captain Annie Hoeksma piled up 108 assists over the weekend as the Jeffs improved to 19-3 overall and fell to 6-1 in conference play. Full Story

Jeffs Sweep Westfield State
October 13 - The Amherst volleyball team swept non-conference host Westfield State College on Tuesday night, 30-15, 30-8, 30-18. Reigning NESCAC Player of the Week sophomore Kristin Quinn led the way with 14 kills and four blocks as the Jeffs improved to 17-2, while Westfield St. fell to 7-9. Full Story

Quinn Named NESCAC Volleyball Player of the Week
October 12 - Amherst sophomore outside hitter Kristin Quinn was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Volleyball Player of the Week after leading the Jeffs to a trio of road conference victories over Bowdoin, Bates and Colby Colleges over the weekend. Quinn racked up a combined 42 kills (3.8/gm) and 11 blocks, highlighted by a 23-kill, three-block outing in Saturday’s 3-2 win over Colby, as the Jeffs improved to 16-2 overall and remained undefeated in conference play at 6-0. Jeffs Remain Undefeated in Conference Play, Sweep NESCAC Quad at Colby
October 9 - The Amherst volleyball team improved to 16-2 overall and remained undefeated in NESCAC play at 6-0 with a trio of conference wins at Colby College on Friday and Saturday. The Jeffs bested Bowdoin College 31-29, 30-13, 30-20, on Friday night, downed Bates College 30-20, 30-12, 30-19, on Saturday morning, and overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat host Colby in five games 24-30, 22-30, 30-18, 30-27, 15-11, on Saturday afternoon. Jeffs Post a Pair of Wins at Wesleyan Invitational
October 2 - After a 30-27, 30-23, 22-30, 30-24 loss to host Wesleyan University on Friday night, the Amherst volleyball team rebounded to defeat Smith College 25-30, 30-27, 30-25, 30-21 and Trinity College 30-27, 28-30, 30-26, 30-14 on Saturday at the Wesleyan Invitational. Senior Annie Hoeksma and sophomore Kristin Quinn earned all-tournament honors as Hoeksma dished out a combined 95 assists, while Quinn posted 45 kills and 18 blocks. Full Story

Jeffs Edge Middlebury in Semifinals, Fall to Pomona-Pitzer in Amherst Classic Championship
September 25 - The Amherst volleyball team endured a pair of grueling five-game matches at the Amherst Classic on Saturday, edging conference rival Middlebury College 27-30, 30-18, 30-17, 26-30, 15-7, in the semifinals, but suffered its first loss of the season to Pomona-Pitzer in the championship, 21-30, 37-35, 26-30, 30-27, 16-14. Rookie Jaclyn DeMais tallied a combined 34 kills and 28 digs, while sophomore Kristin Quinn had 27 kills and 12 blocks and senior Annie Hoeksma dished out 79 assists. The Jeffs moved to 11-1 overall, while Middlebury fell to 10-3 and Pomona-Pitzer improved to 9-5. Full Story

Jeffs Improve to 10-0 with 3-0 Wins Over Muhlenberg, Eastern Conn.
September 24 - Amherst rookie Jaclyn DeMais racked up 21 total kills and senior setter Annie Hoeksma dished out 63 assists as the undefeated Jeffs improved to 10-0 with a pair of 3-0 victories over Muhlenberg College and Eastern Connecticut State University at the six-team Amherst College Volleyball Classic on Friday night. Undefeated Jeffs Improve to 8-0, Sweep NESCAC Quad
September 20 - The undefeated Amherst volleyball team improved to 8-0 (3-0 NESCAC) with three conference victories over Trinity College, Wesleyan University and Connecticut College at a NESCAC Quad hosted by Tufts University over the weekend. Amherst senior co-captain Annie Hoeksma led the way with a combined 109 assists, 15 kills and five blocks. Full Story

Undefeated Jeffs Sweep Keene State, 3-0
September 16 - Led by senior Annie Hoeksma’s 35 assists and sophomore Kristen Quinn’s 13 kills, the Amherst women’s volleyball team remained undefeated at 5-0, downing non-conference host Keene State (1-1) in three games, 30-23, 30-15, 30-26, on Wednesday night. Full Story

Jeffs Open Season 4-0, Win WNEC Invitational Crown
September 13 - The Amherst volleyball team opened its season with four consecutive victories at the Western New England College (WNEC) Invitational last Friday and Saturday. Sophomore Kristin Quinn led the way with a combined 57 kills and 19 digs, earning tournament MVP honors and leading the Jeffs to the tournament crown for the second straight year. Senior co-captain Annie Hoeksma complied 133 assists and earned All-Tournament recognition as well. Full Story

Volleyball Eyes Senior Leadership as Key to 12th Straight Postseason Appearance
September 8 - Amherst volleyball returns a stellar squad, highlighted by seniors Annie Hoeksma and Nicole Davidson and sophomore Kristin Quinn, the 2003 NESCAC Rookie of the Year, in search of yet another 20-win season and a 12th consecutive trip to the postseason. The Jeffs, who finished at 25-8 last season, open their 2004 slate Friday, Sept. 10, at the Western New England College Invitational. Full Story
