Amherst senior quad-captain Erin Murphy (Yonkers, NY) and first-year Monica Snyder (Newton, MA) won the No. 4 and No. 5 singles flights, respectively, to lead the Jeffs at the NEWITT. Erin Murphy bested Bowdoin’s Kristen Raymond 6-2, 7-6 (3), in the championship match, while Snyder toppled Lauren Ready of Middlebury College, 6-0, 6-2, to earn the No. 5 crown. Fellow Jeff rookie Laura Stein (Rockport, ME) reached the finals at No. 3 singles, but fell to Middlebury’s Amanda Berck 6-1, 6-1. Amherst sophomore Katie Hudson (Los Altos, CA) advanced to the No. 2 quarterfinals with a 6-3, 6-0 win over MIT’s Jaclyn Cichon, but dropped a 7-6 (7), 6-3, 1-0 (5) decision to eventual flight champion Amy Roche of Middlebury. Amherst junior Kristen Raverta (W. Springfield, MA) and first-year Jenny Murphy (Simsbury, CT) both bowed out in the second round of the No. 1 and No. 6 flights, respectively.

The Jeffs reached the semifinals in both the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles draws. Erin Murphy and Stein posted an 8-4 win in the second round and an 8-5 victory in the quarterfinals before suffering an 8-2 loss to eventual flight champions Jennifer Lejb and Neda Pisheva of Tufts. Amherst senior quad-captain Tristan Hedrick (Walnut Creek, CA) made her first appearance of the season, teaming with junior Hadley Miller (N. Canton, OH) to reach the semifinals of the No. 3 flight. Hedrick and Miller earned an 8-0 first-round win, an 8-1 second-round win and an 8-1 quarterfinal victory before bowing to top-seeded Hana Freymiller and Trish Devine of Wellesley College. Raverta and Hudson topped Aurore Lormeus and Nancy Tsang of Regis College 8-4 in the opening round before falling to Jen Luten and Kylyn Deary of Tufts.
