Raverta Reaches NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournament Semifinals
May 22 - Amherst junior Kristen Raverta reached the NCAA Division III women’s tennis singles championships semifinals over the weekend at Kalamazoo (Mich.) College. She posted straight-set victories to march through the first three rounds of play, but fell in the round of four to second-seeded Liz Bondi of DePauw University. Full Story

Jeffs Finish Third at NCAA Championships, Edge Middlebury 5-4
May 20 - The Amherst women’s tennis team won the third-place match at the NCAA Tournament Championships, hosted by Kalamazoo (Mich.) College on Friday, edging Middlebury College 5-4. Amherst junior Kristen Raverta broke a 4-4 tie and won the match with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 victory over Middlebury first-year Amanda Berck at No. 3 singles. Full Story

Jeffs Fall to Emory in NCAA Semifinals
May 19 - The Amherst women’s tennis team suffered a 5-3 loss to two-time defending national champion Emory University in the NCAA Tournament semifinals, hosted by Kalamazoo (Mich.) College on Thursday. Amherst fell to 11-3 and will face Middlebury College, who fell to Washington & Lee University 5-3 in the other semifinal matchup, in the third-place match tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. Emory (19-3) advances to face Washington & Lee for the NCAA crown tomorrow at 2 p.m. Full Story

Jeffs Defeat Trinity Univ. in NCAA Quarterfinals
May 18 - The Amherst women’s tennis team advanced to the NCAA Tournament semifinals with a 5-2 quarterfinal victory over Trinity University at Kalamazoo (Mich.) College on Wednesday. The Jeffs will face defending national champion Emory University, who defeated the University of Redlands, 5-1, to advance to the semifinals, in a rematch of last season’s national championship match tomorrow (Thursday) at 2:30 p.m. Full Story

Holt, Menezes Earn ITA Women's Tennis Honors; Jeffs Headed to NCAA Quarterfinals
May 10 - Amherst senior quad-captain Rachel Holt was named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) New England Division III Senior Player of the Year, and first-year teammate Alicia Menezes earned ITA New England Rookie of the Year honors as the Jeffs prepare for their eighth consecutive trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals, held this year at Kalamazoo (Mich.) Jeffs Advance to NCAA Quarterfinals for Eighth Straight Year with 5-1 Win Over Tufts
May 8 - The Amherst women’s tennis team earned its eighth straight trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals with a 5-1 win over visiting Tufts University in the final round of NCAA Northeast Regional play on Sunday. The match was originally scheduled for Amherst College but was moved to the indoor courts at nearby Mount Holyoke College due to inclement weather. Full Story

Tufts Women's Tennis Tops Wellesley 5-0 in NCAA Northeast Regional First Round
May 7 - The Tufts University women’s tennis team topped Wellesley College 5-0 in the first round of NCAA Northeast Regional play hosted by Amherst on the indoor courts at nearby Mt. Holyoke College on Saturday. The Jumbos improved to 9-5 with the victory and will face host Amherst tomorrow with a trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals in Kalamazoo, Michigan at stake. Amherst to Host NCAA Women's Tennis Northeast Regional for Fifth Straight Year
May 4 - After winning its second consecutive NESCAC Championship, the Amherst women’s tennis team will host one of two NCAA Division III Northeast Regionals on Saturday and Sunday, beginning at noon each day. With a 9-2 overall record, the Jeffs drew a first-round bye and, on Sunday, will face the winner of Saturday’s first-round match between Wellesley College (21-1) and Tufts University (8-5). Jeffs Win Second Straight NESCAC Crown
May 1 - After sharing its first-ever conference title last season, the Amherst women’s tennis team grabbed sole possession of the crown at the 2005 NESCAC Championships, hosted by Middlebury College over the weekend, winning three-of-four singles flights and sweeping all three doubles brackets. Senior Tristan Hedrick and rookies Monica Snyder and Laura Stein each won respective singles titles, while Hedrick teamed with classmate Rachel Holt, Snyder paired with junior Kristen Raverta and Stein joined senior Erin Murphy to sweep doubles competition. Jeffs Conclude Regular Season with 7-2 Win at Williams
April 23 - The Amherst College women’s tennis team wrapped up its regular-season spring slate with a 7-2 win at archrival Williams College on Saturday, upping its record to 9-2 with its fifth straight win and second victory over the Ephs this season. After dropping two out of three in doubles play, the Jeffs rebounded to win all six singles matches. Full Story

Jeffs Win Fourth Straight, Down Wellesley, 7-2
April 16 - The Amherst women’s tennis team, ranked No. 1 in the region, won its fourth straight match on Saturday, dealing visiting Wellesley College its first loss of the year, 7-2. The Jeffs took two out of three doubles matches and five of six singles tilts as they improved to 8-2, while Wellesley fell to 21-1. Full Story

Jeffs Top Tufts, 6-3
April 12 - In a match that was forced indoors due to inclement weather, the Amherst women’s tennis team topped host Tufts University 6-3, taking home four out of six singles matches and two out of three doubles tilts on Wednesday. The Jeffs improved to 7-3 with their third consecutive win, while Tufts fell to 7-3. Full Story

Jeffs Upend Middlebury, 7-2
April 10 - The Amherst women’s tennis team took two out of three doubles matches and five out of six in singles play en route to a decisive 7-2 win over visiting Middlebury College on Sunday. Amherst seniors Rachel Holt and Erin Murphy each posted victories in doubles and singles play, while juniors Kristen Raverta and Hadley Miller and rookie Monica Snyder each reeled in singles wins. Junior Tristan Hedrick and first-year Laura Stein also excelled in doubles play. Full Story

Jeffs Blank Visiting Conn. College in Home Opener
March 31 - The Amherst women's tennis team played its first home match of the spring on Thursday and scored a decisive 9-0 victory over visiting Connecticut College, sweeping every set along the way. Amherst senior Rachel Holt faced the sternest test at No. 1 singles, falling behind 4-1 against Conn. sophomore Beret Remak before reeling off 11 straight games to secure the win. Full Story

Jeffs Washed in California
March 20 - Inclement weather caused a series of cancellations for the Amherst men’s and women’s tennis teams over the weekend. The men were rained out at the University of Redlands on Saturday, while the women managed to squeeze in a trio of doubles matches Friday against Columbia University (at Cal St. Fullerton) before being totally washed Saturday at Claremont College. Jeffs Fall at Cal St. Fullerton, 6-1
March 15 - The Amherst women’s tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss at Division I opponent California State Fullerton on Tuesday. Sophomore Katie Hudson stole the lone victory for the Jeffs, who dropped to 4-2, while the host Titans improved to 4-9. Full Story

Jeffs Interrupted at Pomona-Pitzer
March 15 - The Amherst women's tennis team opened its season Sunday morning at Pomona-Pitzer, but the match was interrupted due to inclement weather. The Jeffs won all three doubles tilts by matching 8-1 scores, but rain halted the action before singles play could commence, and there are no plans for continuation. Full Story

Jeffs Third at New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament, Menezes, Holt Compete at ITA National Championships
October 18 - The Amherst women’s tennis team finished third at the New England Women’s Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament (NEWITT), held at Mt. Holyoke and Smith Colleges over the weekend. Amherst first-year Alicia Menezes and senior Rachel Holt traveled to Ft. Myers, Florida for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Championship Tournament as well. Full Story

Jeffs Blank Williams, 9-0
October 9 - The Amherst women’s tennis team swept visiting Little Three archrival Williams College on Saturday, 9-0. The Jeffs won every set in the match, posting their third consecutive victory over the Ephs and improving to 4-1 on the season. Full Story

Jeffs Post Pair of 8-1 Wins at Bowdoin, Colby
October 4 - The Amherst women’s tennis team enjoyed a stellar Sunday, posting a pair of 8-1 victories at Bowdoin College and Colby College, improving to 3-1 overall. Full Story

Jeffs Blanked at UMass, 7-0
October 2 - The Amherst women’s tennis team suffered its first defeat of the season on Friday, falling at Division I opponent UMass Amherst, 7-0. The Jeffs fell to 1-1 with the loss, while UMass picked up its first win in its season opener. Full Story

Menezes Dominates Wilson/ITA New England Women's Tennis Championships
September 26 - Amherst first-year Alicia Menezes dominated the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) New England Women’s Tennis Championships, hosted by Williams College over the weekend, earning both the singles and doubles crowns. After dropping just one set en route to the singles title, she teamed with senior Rachel Holt to take the doubles championship as well. Full Story

Jeffs Sweep Wesleyan in Season Opener
September 18 - The Amherst women’s tennis team, which finished the 2003-04 season ranked second in the nation, opened its season with a 9-0 victory over visiting Little Three rival Wesleyan University on Saturday. Returning NCAA Tournament qualifiers Rachel Holt ’05 and Kristen Raverta ’06 each posted 8-0 singles victories, while Holt paired with first-year Alicia Menezes for an 8-6 doubles win and Raverta teamed with sophomore Katie Hudson for an 8-0 doubles victory. Powerhouse Women's Tennis Team Seeks Return Trip to NCAA Final Four
September 9 - Coming off a season that saw them reach the NCAA title match and finish with a No. 2 national ranking, the 2004-05 Amherst women's tennis team returns nearly its entire roster, led by senior captains Liz Libert, Erin Murphy, Tristan Hedrick and Rachel Holt. The Jeffs begin their quest for a return trip to the NCAA Final Four on Saturday, Sept. 18, against visiting Little Three rival Wesleyan. Full Story
