Harmeling Named NEWISA All-New England

AMHERST, MA - Amherst College senior tri-captain Ashley Harmeling (N. Reading, MA/Phillips Andover Acad.) was named Third-Team New England Women’s Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) All-New England recently.

A First-Team All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) selection for the second straight season, Harmeling led the Jeffs in scoring with six goals and an assist despite missing the first four games due to injury. As a junior, she shattered a pair of single-season school records with 19 goals and 42 points, both tops in the NESCAC, en route to First-Team National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America, First-Team NEWISA All-New England, NESCAC Player of the Year and First-Team All-NESCAC honors. As a sophomore, Harmeling earned Second-Team All-NESCAC plaudits after finishing eighth in the conference in points (19) and sixth in goals (9).

An outstanding women’s lacrosse player as well, Harmeling was named the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III Attacker of the Year, First-Team IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-America, First-Team womenslacrosse.com All-America and First-Team IWLCA All-New England after leading Amherst to the 2004 national semifinals. She’s also Amherst’s top-ranked women’s squash player, finishing her junior season ranked 30th nationally.
