AMHERST, MA - Amherst College first-years Tomas Morrissey (Astoria, OR) and Kim Partee (Brentwood, TN) were named the menís and womenís 2004 NESCAC Rookies of the Year on Friday. Each earned Second-Team All-NESCAC honors as well, while womenís co-captain Carter Hamill (Richmond, VA) and sophomore Shauneen Garrahan (Fairfax Station, VA) claimed First-Team honors as a result of their outstanding performances at the NESCAC Championships, held at Colby College on Saturday, October 30.

Morrissey finished 11th individually at the NESCAC meet, covering the 8k course in 25:51.24. He wrapped up his rookie campaign with a 17th-place showing at the NCAA Regional Championships, at the University of Southern Maine, missing a berth in the national championship meet by just three-tenths of a second.

Partee became the Jeffs second consecutive NESCAC Rookie of the Year with her 14th-place finish at the NESCAC meet, and she continues on to the NCAA Championship meet at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire after the womenís team placed fourth at the NCAA Regionals. Partee finished 33rd individually, completing the 6k course in 23:12.4.

Hamill nabs her third-career All-NESCAC award, finishing third at the conference meet in 17:58.66. A three-time All-America and four-time All-New England selection, she seeks her fourth straight All-America award this weekend after finishing fifth at the regional meet.

Garrahan earns her second consecutive All-NESCAC award after taking home NESCAC Most Outstanding Performer and Rookie of the Year honors last season.
