Jeffs Fall at Conn. College ... APRIL FOOLS!

April 1, 2005

NEW LONDON, CT - No, the Amherst College menís tennis team did not fall at Connecticut College on Friday. In fact the visiting Jeffs handed the host Camels a 7-0 April Fools drubbing, sweeping every set and surrendering just 10 games in six singles and three doubles matches.

Amherst junior Josh Rilla (Westboro, MA) and rookies Jeffrey Wan (Staten Island, NY) and Tal Avrahami (Riverdale, NY) rubber-stamped the rout with a trio of 6-0, 6-0 singles wins, while junior Scott Bronner and first-year Sam Maurey (Cape Elizabeth, ME) teamed for an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles.

The win was the first at Amherst for interim head coach Rick Edelmann. Conn. remains winless at 0-3.

Now 5-2 on the year, the Jeffs return to action Saturday at noon at Little Three rival Wesleyan University.
