Ladd Named ECAC Division III Northeast Offensive Player of the Week

November 17, 2004

AMHERST, MA - After earning New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season and the fourth time in his career on Monday, Amherst College senior quad-captain tailback Fletcher Ladd (Amherst, NH/Souhegan) was named the Division III Northeast Offensive Player of the Week by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) on Wednesday as well. Ladd rushed 34 times for 179 yards and a touchdown as Amherst (6-2) clamed sole possession of the Little Three title with Saturday’s 13-10 Homecoming win over visiting archrival Williams.

A Second-Team CoSIDA Academic All-America pick in 2003 and a finalist for Academic All-America this season, Ladd is a three-time All-NESCAC and two-time First-Team CoSIDA Academic All-District selection. He topped the NESCAC in rushing with 1,137 yards on 184 carries this year, upping his career total to a school-record 3,817 yards. He also finished second in the conference in rushing in both 2003 (111.8 ypg) and 2002 (143.5 ypg) and second in the NESCAC in rushing touchdowns (7) as a rookie in 2001.
