Amherst Places Three on STX/NFHCA Division III All-New England West Region Team

November 22, 2004

AMHERST, MA - Amherst College junior Katherine Skrivan (St. Louis, MO/Clayton) and seniors Alicia Pichard (Chevy Chase, MD/Holton Arms) and Erin Leydon (Bridgton, ME/Lake Region) were each named to the 2004 STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-New England West Region Team on Monday. Skrivan was a first-team selection while Pichard and Leydon earned second-team honors.

Skrivan, a Second-Team All-NESCAC pick, earned her second straight STX/NFHCA All-New England West award after leading the Jeffs in scoring with six goals, six assists and 18 points. She finished 10th in the conference in assists per game (0.46/g) and netted game-winning overtime goals in a 2-1 victory over Tufts University and a 1-0 shutout win at Connecticut College.

A co-captain, Pichard claimed All-New England West honors for the first time after a strong defensive season. Starting nearly ever game for Amherst over the last three years, she’s been a mainstay on defense.

Leydon earned All-New England West recognition for the first time as well after finishing with a team-best seven goals and placing second on the team with 14 points. A three-year starter at forward, Leydon has piled up 32 career goals, including six game-winners, a pair of assists and 32 points.

Amherst finished 5-8 overall and 3-6 in conference play, narrowly missing out on the final spot in the NESCAC Championship Tournament by way of a tiebreaker.
