Jeffs End Season with 2-1 Overtime Loss to 15th-Ranked Williams

October 30, 2004

AMHERST, MA - The Amherst College field hockey team ended its season with a 2-1 overtime loss to visiting NESCAC and Little Three rival Williams College on Saturday. The Jeffs conclude their season at 5-8 (3-6 NESCAC), narrowly missing out on a berth in the seven-team NESCAC Postseason Championship Tournament.

Williams (11-3/6-3 NESCAC) rookie defender Susan Shea (Bethlehem, PA) notched the unassisted game winner with 1:50 left in overtime after fellow sophomore forward Cathleen Clark (Plymouth, NH) knotted the score at 1-1 with 22:13 remaining in the second half. Amherst’s lone tally came just over six minutes into the second-half when sophomore Rachel Carr-Harris (Pleasantville, NY) found the back of the net with her third goal of the season.

Senior goalie Wendy Stone (Buffalo, NY) racked up nine saves for Williams, while Amherst senior K.C. Cosentino (Greenwich, CT) finished with 15.
