Fourth-Seeded Jeffs Down Fifth-Seeded Tufts, Fall to Top-Seeded Williams at NESCAC Tourney

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - The fourth-seeded Amherst College Volleyball team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat No. 5 seed Tufts University, 3-2 (25-30, 21-30, 32-30, 30-27, 16-14), in the NESCAC Postseason Tournament Quarterfinals, hosted by top-seeded Williams College Friday night, but fell Saturday afternoon in the semifinals to the host Ephs, 3-0 (30-21, 30-23, 30-21). Amherst first-year Kristin Quinn (Los Angeles, CA) had a combined 26 kills and 16 blocks, while junior Nicole Davidson (Los Angeles, CA) added 24 kills and 15 digs and senior co-captain Lauren Wong (San Francisco, CA) tallied 21 blocks.

Amherst junior setter Annie Hoeksma (Los Angeles, CA) contributed 51 assists and seven kills, senior co-captain Jess Allen (Chagrin Falls, OH) collected 11 kills and 21 digs, sophomore Kate Raddock (Stamford, CT) had a team-best 27 digs. Sophomore Natalie Soud (Jacksonville, FL) amounted eight kills in the win over Tufts, and classmate Sara Bruggeman (Boulder, CO) tallied 11 blocks in the loss to Williams.

Amherst is eliminated from the NESCAC Tournament with the loss and awaits word of a NCAA Tournament at-large bid with a record of 25-8.
