Raverta Finishes Strong for Women's Tennis
June 4 - The Amherst women's tennis team was ranked 11th in the nation, and not a likely candidate to be hanging around the net come NCAA Division III Tournament time, but anything's possible when you've got your "Ravertarator" running. Full Story

Jeffs Place Three on ITA All-America Team
June 4 - After leading Amherst to a 17-4 record, a share of the NESCAC Championship and a runner-up finish at the NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championships, juniors Tristan Hedrick and Rachel Holt and sophomore Kristen Raverta were each named to the 2004 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-America Team. Jeffs Fall Just Short in Bid for Second National Championship
May 14 - Amherst fell just one victory shy of claiming its second NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship Friday afternoon at the Racquet Club of Memphis, dropping a 5-0 decision to Division III powerhouse Emory University. With the win, Emory (24-1) earned its third national championship and became just the second team in NCAA Division III history to win back-to-back NCAA titles. Amherst finishes its season at 17-4. Jeffs One Win Away from National Championship
May 13 - With Thursday's 5-3 victory over archrival Williams College in the national semifinals, the Amherst women's tennis team advanced to the NCAA Finals for the first time since winning the national championship in 1999, where they'll face defending national champion Emory University - 5-0 winners over Washington & Lee in Thursday's other national semifinal - Friday at 1 p.m. Full Story

Jeffs Advance to NCAA Semifinals with 6-0 Win Over Trinity University
May 12 - The Amherst women's tennis team advanced to the NCAA Semifinals for the sixth time in the last seven years on Wednesday with a decisive 6-0 NCAA Quarterfinal win over Trinity University of San Antonio, Texas at the Racquet Club of Memphis, Tennessee. The Jeffs will take on archrival Williams College - which downed Denison University 6-3 in the quarterfinals - Thursday at 1 p.m. The winner will advance to the NCAA Championship match against either Washington & Lee University or defending NCAA Champion Emory University, Friday at 1 p.m. Full Story

Jeffs Headed to Memphis for NCAA Quarterfinals
May 6 - The Amherst women’s tennis team will vie for its second national championship next week at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, opening play in the NCAA Elite Eight with a quarterfinal match against Trinity (Tex.) College, Wednesday at 2 p.m. Full Story

Jeffs Advance to NCAA Quarterfinals for Seventh Straight Year with 6-3 Win Over Middlebury
May 2 - The Amherst women’s tennis team advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the seventh consecutive year with a 6-3 win over visiting Middlebury College on Sunday. The NCAA second-round match was originally scheduled for Amherst College but moved indoors at nearby Mount Holyoke College due to inclement weather. Full Story

Amherst to Host NCAA Women's Tennis Northeast Regional, Saturday and Sunday
April 27 - The Amherst women’s tennis team earned one of two host seeds for NCAA Division III Northeast Regional play, which begins this Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Amherst College courts. With a 14-3 overall record, the Jeffs drew a first-round bye and, on Sunday, will face the winner of Saturday’s first-round match between Bowdoin (12-6) and Middlebury (15-3). The winner will advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals, which, along with the NCAA Semifinals and Finals, will be hosted by Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn., May 12-17. This is the fourth straight year the Jeffs have hosted NCAA Regional play. Full Story

Jeffs Win Fourth Straight, Blank Wellesley, 9-0
April 25 - The Amherst women’s tennis team won its fourth consecutive match, blanking host Wellesley College 9-0 on Sunday. The Jeffs swept every set as junior Tristan Hedrick blanked Wellesley first-year Hana Freymiller, 6-0, 6-0, and junior Erin Murphy and sophomore Hadley Miller posted an 8-0 doubles win over sophomore Debby Dowlin and first-year Carly Fair. Jeffs Post Third Straight Upset, Down Williams 6-3
April 24 - The Amherst women’s tennis team posted its third straight upset victory on Saturday, defeating NESCAC co-champion and Little Three archrival Williams College, 6-3. The Jeffs improved to 13-3 with the win, while the Ephs suffered their second-straight loss and dropped to 11-5. Full Story

Amherst, Williams Share NESCAC Women's Tennis Crown
April 18 - The Amherst and Williams College women’s tennis teams were named conference co-champions at the conclusion of the NESCAC Championship Tournament, held at Amherst Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The two teams each amassed 27 points for a share of the crown as the Jeffs claimed the NESCAC title for the first time in school history, while Williams won the conference for the fourth straight year. Jeffs Win Second Straight, Down Tufts, 7-2
April 13 - The Amherst women’s tennis team won its second consecutive match on Tuesday, defeating visiting Tufts University, which finished the fall season ranked No. 3 in the nation, 7-2. Amherst juniors Tristan Hedrick and Rachel Holt and first-year Katie Hudson each earned singles wins, and Hedrick and Holt teamed for their second straight doubles win as well as the Jeffs improved to 12-3. Jeffs Edge Middlebury, 5-4
April 11 - The Amherst women’s tennis team edged host Middlebury College 5-4 on Sunday, rebounding from Saturday’s 8-1 loss to defending Division III national champion Emory University. Amherst juniors Tristan Hedrick and Rachel Holt each picked up singles wins and teamed for an 8-3 doubles win as the Jeffs improved to 11-3 overall. Full Story

Jeffs Fall to Emory, 8-1
April 10 - The Amherst women’s tennis team fell to defending Division III national champion Emory University 8-1 on Saturday. Amherst sophomore Kristen Raverta earned the lone singles victory for the host Jeffs, upending Emory sophomore Jolyn Taylor, who finished the fall season ranked No. 2 in the nation, 7-6, 7-5. Emory improved to 15-1 with the victory, while Amherst dropped to 10-3. Full Story

Women’s Tennis Improves to 10-2 with 9-0 Wins Over Brandeis, Bates
March 27 - The Amherst women’s tennis team upped its record to 10-2 overall with a pair of lopsided 9-0 wins over visiting Brandeis University and Bates College on Saturday. The Jeffs dropped only one set on the afternoon in notching their fourth and fifth wins of the spring. Full Story

11th-Ranked Jeffs Wrap California Trip With 7-2 Win at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps
March 20 - The 11th-ranked Amherst women’s tennis team finished its spring break trip in California with a 7-2 victory over Claremont-Harvey Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Saturday. The Jeffs won all three doubles matches, while senior captain Wallis Molchen, juniors Rachel Holt and Tristan Hedrick and sophomore Kristen Raverta each earned singles victories. Full Story

11th-Ranked Jeffs Fall at Cal. State Fullerton, 5-2
March 19 - The 11th-ranked Amherst women’s tennis team fell to Division I foe California State Fullerton, 5-2, on Friday. Juniors Tristan Hedrick (Walnut Creek, CA) and Rachel Holt were the lone Jeffs to steal match wins from the host Titans as the Jeffs fell to 7-2 with the loss. Full Story

11th-Ranked Jeffs Down No. 13 Redlands, 7-2
March 17 - The 11th-ranked Amherst women’s tennis team won its second consecutive match, defeating the 13th-ranked University of Redlands on Wednesday, 7-2. Amherst junior Rachel Holt defeated Redlands junior Lauren Matsushita in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, and teamed with junior Tristan Hedrick to upend Matsushita and sophomore Tatiana Steinberg in doubles play, 8-2. Jeffs Open Spring Season with 9-0 Sweep at Pomona-Pitzer
March 15 - The Amherst women’s tennis team opened its spring season with a 9-0 sweep at Pomona-Pitzer College on Monday. Amherst senior captain Wallis Molchen earned a 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) victory over Pomona-Pitzer first-year Molly Berman in her singles match, and teamed with sophomore Kristen Raverta for a 9-8 (8-6) doubles win over seniors Vicki Chen and Betsy Mork. The Jeffs did not lose a set in the match, improving to 6-1 with the victory. Full Story

Jeffs Finish Second at New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament
October 21 - The Amherst women’s tennis team finished second to NESCAC rival Williams College at the New England Women’s Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament, held at Amherst on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Sophomore Kristen Raverta posted the lone singles-flight championship for the Jeffs, and teamed with senior captain Wallis Molchen for the flight-three doubles crown. Full Story

Jeffs Fall at Williams, 5-4
October 10 - The Amherst women’s tennis team posted its first loss of the season, falling 5-4 at archrival Williams College on Friday, despite singles wins by juniors Rachel Holt and Tristan Hedrick and sophomore Kristen Raverta. Full Story

Jeffs Ice Polar Bears, 9-0
October 6 - The Amherst women’s tennis team posted a 9-0 shutout win over visiting Bowdoin College on Sunday. The Jeffs improved to 5-0 on the season, losing only one set in singles and sweeping the visiting Polar Bears in doubles. Full Story

Jeffs Blank Colby 9-0
October 4 - The Amherst women’s tennis team improved to 4-0 with a 9-0 shutout win over visiting Colby College on Saturday. The Jeffs swept every set on the afternoon in both singles and doubles. Full Story

Holt Second at Omni ITA New England Championships
September 29 - Junior Rachel Holt finished second to NESCAC rival Diana Goldman of Trinity College (6-3, 1-6, 3-10) at the Omni ITA New England Championship Tournament, hosted by Bowdoin College on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Holt also teamed with classmate Tristan Hedrick to reach the semifinals in doubles action. Full Story

Jeffs Whitewash Wesleyan 9-0
September 20 - The Amherst women’s tennis team moved to 3-0 with a convincing 9-0 win at Little Three rival Wesleyan University on Saturday. The Jeffs swept every set on the afternoon in both singles and doubles. Full Story

Jeffs Earn 8-1 Wins At Trinity, Skidmore
September 14 - The Amherst women’s tennis team opened its season with a pair of 8-1 wins at NESCAC rival Trinity College, on Saturday, and Skidmore College, on Sunday. Senior captain Wallis Molchen, junior Erin Murphy and sophomore Hadley Miller were all outstanding for the Jeffs, sweeping every set on the weekend. Full Story
