Garrahan Named NESCAC Cross Country Most Outstanding Performer and Rookie of the Year

AMHERST, MA - Amherst College first-year Shauneen Garrahan (Fairfax Station, VA/Thomas Jefferson) was named the NESCAC Most Outstanding Performer as well as NESCAC Rookie of the Year and First-Team All-NESCAC on Friday, as a result of her first-place finish at the NESCAC Cross Country Championship meet, held at Middlebury College Saturday, November 1.

Also earning First-Team All-NESCAC honors for the women were junior All-American Carter Hamill (Richmond, VA/The Collegiate School) and senior Aly Venti (Newton, MA/Newton South), who finished in third and fifth place at the NESCAC Championships.

On the menís side, junior Mike Page (Fargo, ND/North) earned First-Team All-NESCAC honors along with junior Matt Katz (Tallahasee, FL/Alfred B. Maclay), for their third and sixth-place finishes, respectively.

Both teams return to action this Saturday, November 8 at the ECAC Championships, hosted by Tufts University in Grafton, MA. The top seven runners for both Amherst squads, however, will sit out the meet this weekend, and return to action on Saturday, November 15 at the New England Division III Regional Championship meet, hosted by Bates College at the University of Southern Maine.
