NESCAC Champs Rilla, Babkes Fall in First Round of NCAA Doubles Championships
May 15 - Amherst College sophomores Josh Rilla and Danny Babkes bowed out in the first round of the NCAA Division III Menís Tennis Doubles Championships at Bates College on Saturday, falling 6-4, 6-1 to Emory Universityís Mark Odgers and Alex Jacobs. Rilla and Babkes, who claimed the NESCAC Doubles Championship earlier this spring, were making their first appearance in individual national championship play. Full Story

Rilla, Babkes Lead Jeffs to Sixth-Place Showing at NESCAC Championships
April 25 - Sophomores Josh Rilla and Danny Babkes took first place in the No. 1 doubles flight with a 9-7 victory over Tufts University senior Jon Bram and junior Rifat Perahya, leading the Amherst menís tennis team to a sixth-place finish and earning First-Team All-NESCAC honors at the NESCAC Championship Tournament, hosted by Williams College Friday through Sunday. Jeffs Fall to MIT, 5-2
April 21 - The Amherst menís tennis team fell to visiting MIT 5-2 on Wednesday. Junior Max Rettig and sophomore Jon Godsall each earned singles victories for the Jeffs, who dropped to 6-8 with their fourth straight loss. Full Story

Jeffs Drop Third Straight, Swept at No. 23 Trinity
April 20 - In a match abbreviated by darkness, the Amherst menís tennis team dropped its third straight match on Tuesday, falling 4-0 at 23rd-ranked Trinity College. Sophomore Scott Bronner and first-year Karti Subramanian picked up a doubles win for the Jeffs, defeating Trinity sophomores Paul Baumgartner and Dan Merns, 8-4. Full Story

Jeffs Blanked by Middlebury, Bowdoin
April 18 - The Amherst menís tennis team was swept at Middlebury College 7-0 on Saturday, and fell to visiting Bowdoin College 7-0 as well on Sunday, evening its record at 6-6 on the year. Full Story

Men's Tennis at Trinity Postponed
April 12 - Due to the threat of inclement weather, the Amherst menís tennis match at Trinity College, originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 13, has been postponed until Tuesday, April 27, at 3 p.m. Full Schedule

Jeffs Topple NYU, 6-1
April 11 - The Amherst menís tennis team toppled visiting New York University (NYU) 6-1 on Sunday, rebounding from Saturdayís 6-1 loss at Little Three archrival Williams College. The Jeffs improved to 6-4 with the victory and have now won four of their five matches. Full Story

Jeffs Falter at Williams, 6-1
April 10 - The Amherst menís tennis team saw a three-match winning streak fall by the wayside with a 6-1 loss at archrival Williams College on Saturday. Sophomore Josh Rilla posted the lone singles win for the Jeffs, downing Williams No. 1 Andrew Murray 6-3, 6-2. Amherst dropped to 5-4, while Williams upped its record to 7-5. Full Story

Jeffs Win Third Straight, Hammer Visiting Drew, 6-1
April 6 - The Amherst menís tennis team improved to 5-3 with its third straight win on Tuesday - a convincing 6-1 decision over visiting Drew University. The Jeffs nearly swept singles play with sophomores Josh Rilla, Jon Godsall and Danny Babkes, junior Max Rettig and senior Rob Feeley each recording victories. Amherst secured the doubles point as Godsall and Lawrence combined for an 8-6 win, and sophomore Scott Bronner and rookie Karti Subramanian teamed for an 8-3 doubles victory. Full Story

Jeffs Down Wesleyan, 5-2
April 3 - The Amherst menís tennis team improved to 4-3 with a 5-2 win over visiting NESCAC and Little Three rival Wesleyan University on Saturday. The Jeffs won five out of six singles matches to secure the victory with Wesleyan claming the doubles point. Wesleyan fell to 6-7 with the loss. Full Story

Jeffs Earn First Spring Victory, Sweep Conn. College, 7-0
April 1 - The Amherst menís tennis team earned its first victory of the spring on Thursday, sweeping visiting Connecticut College, 7-0. The Jeffs won every set in the win and earned their first doubles point of the spring as well, improving to 3-3 on the year, while Conn. fell to 0-6. Full Story

Jeffs Fall at No. 24 Tufts, 6-1
March 30 - The Amherst menís tennis team fell at 24th-ranked Tufts University on Monday, 6-1. Amherst sophomore Danny Babkes stole the lone singles victory with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Tufts junior Jon Bram. The Jeffs fell to 2-3 on the year, while Tufts improved to 2-1. Full Story

Jeffs Open Spring Slate with 5-2 Loss to Boston College
March 24 - The Amherst menís tennis team opened its spring slate with a 5-2 loss to visiting Division I opponent Boston College on Wednesday afternoon. Junior Max Retting and senior Rob Feeley each nabbed singles victories for the Jeffs, while sophomore Jon Godsall and first-year Jeff Lawrence won their doubles match over Boston College seniors Ross Pytko and Paul Colahan, 8-2. Jeffs Win at Brandeis, 4-3
October 1 - The Amherst menís tennis team was victorious at Brandeis University on Tuesday, 4-3, with sophomore Jon Godsall winning the deciding match in three sets, 2-6, 7-6, 6-4. Full Story

Rilla Advances to Semifinals at Omni ITA New England Championsips
September 29 - Sophomore Josh Rilla reached the semifinals of the Omni ITA New England Menís Tennis Championships, hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, before falling to Middleburyís Nathan Edmunds 6-2, 2-6, 6-3. Full Story

Jeffs Fall at Division I Hartford, 5-2
September 24 - The Amherst menís tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision at the University of Hartford on Wednesday, despite singles wins by sophomores Josh Rilla and Jon Godsall. Rilla outlasted Hartford No. 1 Patrick Flint 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, while Godsall had an easy time with Hartford No. 5 Jorge Acuna, winning 6-3, 6-2. Full Story

Jeffs Claim ECAC North Championship
September 22 - The Amherst menís tennis team won five of six singles and doubles titles, earning first place at the ECAC North Menís Tennis Championships, held Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Vassar College. Sophomores Josh Rilla, Danny Babkes and Jon Godsall swept every set in the No.ís 1, 3 and 5 singles championships, respectively. Full Story

Jeffs Defeat Salve Regina In Season Opener, 6-1
September 17 - The Amherst menís tennis team defeated visiting Salve Regina University in its season-opener on Wednesday, 6-1. The Jeffs lost only two of 16 sets in their victory and move to 1-0 on the season, while the Seahawks fall to 0-1. Full Story
