Rilla Advances to Semifinals at Omni ITA New England Championships

CAMBRIDGE, MA - Sophomore Josh Rilla reached the semifinals of the Omni ITA New England Men’s Tennis Championships, hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, before falling to Middlebury’s Nathan Edmunds 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.
After receiving a first-round bye, Rilla cruised past Jon Bram of Tufts University in the second round, 6-4, 6-1, and Williams College’s Jeff Kivitz in the quarterfinals, 6-3, 6-1, before losing to Edmunds. Rilla also teamed with first-year Jeff Lawrence in doubles action and earned a first-round win over Mike Brooks and Jon Martin of Babson College, 8-3, but fell in the second round to Bates College’s William Boe-Weigaard and Sam Duvall, 8-6.
Amherst returns to action on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Brandies University.
