Sixth-Ranked Jeffs Win at Colby, 3-1
October 11 - The sixth-ranked Amherst men's soccer team defeated host NESCAC rival Colby College on Saturday, 3-1. Sophomore Adrien de Bontin scored his first two goals of the season, including the game winner, as the Jeffs improve to 7-2-1 (4-1-1 NESCAC). Full Story

Sixth-Ranked Jeffs fall at Conn. College, 1-0
October 8 - The sixth-ranked Amherst men's soccer team fell 1-0 at NESCAC rival Connecticut College on Wednesday. Conn.'s Michal Kosac notched the game-winner in the 74th minute, dropping Amherst to 6-2-1 overall and 3-1-1 in conference play. Full Story

No. 7 Jeffs, No. 15 Middlebury Play to 0-0 Men's Soccer Tie
October 4 - Seventh-ranked Amherst and 15th-ranked Middlebury College played to a 0-0 double-overtime tie in NESCAC menís soccer action on Saturday. Both goalies were stellar in net, with sophomore Greg Lockwood tallying 14 saves for Amherst (6-1-1/3-0-1 NESCAC), and junior Craig Hirsh turning away 12 shots for Middlebury (6-0-2/3-0-2 NESCAC). Both goalies were credited with a shutout. Lockwoodís was his second of the season and eighth of his career. Full Story

Seventh-Ranked Jeffs Blank Springfield, 4-0
October 1 - The seventh-ranked Amherst menís soccer team won 4-0 at Springfield College on Wednesday led by NESCAC player of the week Mike Wohl's two first-half goals. Senior quad-captain Michael York added his third score of the year and sophomore standout Joe Gannon netted his fifth as the Jeffs improve to 6-1 on the season. Full Story

Wohl Named NESCAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week; Jeffs Climb to Seventh in National Rankings
September 29 - Amherst rookie striker Mike Wohl was named the NESCAC Menís Soccer Player of the Week on Monday after scoring the game-winner in Wednesdayís 5-0 win over Babson and Saturdayís 3-1 win over then fifth-ranked Bowdoin. Now 5-1 overall and a perfect 3-0 in conference play, the Jeffs moved into sole possession of first place in the NESCAC, climbed from 18th to seventh in the latest NSCAA/adidas national poll, and rose from second to first in the NSCAA/adidas New England rankings. 18th-Ranked Jeffs Shock Fifth-Ranked Bowdoin, 3-1
September 27 - The 18th-ranked Amherst menís soccer team remained in first place in the NESCAC with a 3-1 win over visiting fifth-ranked Bowdoin College on Saturday. The Jeffs rebounded from a 1-0 halftime deficit with a trio of second half scoring strikes to up their record to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play. Full Story

18th-Ranked Jeffs Blank Babson, 5-0
September 24 - The 18th-ranked Amherst menís soccer team shut out visiting Babson College 5-0 on Wednesday, improving to 4-1 on the season. First-year Mike Wohl scored the first two goals on passes from senior quad-captain Frank Perry and then repaid the favor, feeding Perry for the third score. Full Story

10th-Ranked Jeffs Win at Bates, 2-1
September 20 - The 10th-ranked Amherst menís soccer team won at NESCAC rival Bates College on Saturday, 2-1, to improve to 3-1 on the year (2-0 NESCAC). First-year Mike Wohl assisted sophomore Joe Gannon on his third goal of the season and senior quad-captain Michael York had the eventual game-winner on a penalty kick in the second half. Full Story

10th-Ranked Jeffs Fall to No. 18 Wheaton, 2-1
September 17 - The 10th-ranked Amherst menís soccer team fell to No. 18 Wheaton College Wednesday, 2-1, in a non-conference matchup. The Jeffs struck first on a left-footed goal from sophomore Joe Gannon, his second of the year, but allowed a goal in each half resulting in their first loss of the season. Full Story

September 13 - The 10th-ranked Amherst menís soccer team used unassisted goals by sophomore Joe Gannon and senior quad-captains Jeff Cantwell and Frank Perry to blank host Tufts University 3-0 in both teamsí NESCAC opener on Saturday. The Jeffs improved to 2-0 overall (1-0 NESCAC) and have yet to allow a goal on the season. Full Story

15th-Ranked Amherst Men's Soccer Opens Season with 4-0 Win Over Salve Regina
September 6 - The 15th-ranked Amherst men's soccer team opened its season with a 4-0 shutout win over visiting non-league foe Salve Regina on Saturday. Four different Amherst players scored during the lopsided win, led by sophomore midfielder Ben Lavely, who finished with a goal and an assist. Full Story

Men's Soccer Set to Repeat Outstanding 2002 Season
September 4 - The Lord Jeffs return four current or former All-New England players from a team that won the Little Three Championship, advanced to the NESCAC Tournament title game and played for the NCAA Regional Championship. Senior quad-captains Tim Canon and Frank Perry, junior defenseman Andrew Syfu and last year's NESCAC Rookie of the Year, Joe Gannon, lead the way for the Jeffs. Full Story
