2002 Amherst Volleyball Milestones


  • Finished with a 21-7 overall record (8-2 in conference play) after opening the season with nine straight wins.
  • Earned the third seed in the NESCAC Postseason Championship Tournament, where they recorded a pair of 3-1 victories over sixth-seeded Tufts and seventh-seeded Middlebury before falling to top-seeded Williams, 3-0, in championship game.
  • Led the NESCAC in blocks per game (3.07) and finished second in hitting percentage (.274).
  • Finished 19th in the nation in hitting percentage (.274) and 20th in blocks per game (3.07).


    Head Coach Sue Everden
  • Posted her 400th career victory as the Jeffs downed Middlebury 3-0 in the Gold Medal Bracket of the Amherst College Volleyball Classic.

  • Senior co-captain outside hitter Erin Dittus (Brentwood, TN)
  • NESCAC Fall All-Academic.
  • Eighth in the NESCAC in kills per game (3.10).

  • Senior defensive specialist Irene Lee (Fullerton, CA)
  • Fourth in the NESCAC in digs per game (4.34).

  • Junior middle blocker Lauren Wong (San Francisco, CA)
  • Sixth in the NESCAC in blocks per game (1.14).

  • Sophomore setter Annie Hoeksma (Los Angeles, CA)
  • First-Team All-NESCAC.
  • Earned all-tournament honors at the 2002 Hall of Fame Invitational, hosted by Smith College.
  • Fifth in the NESCAC in assists per game (10.02) and seventh in hitting percentage (.322).

  • First-Year middle hitter Sara Bruggeman (Boulder, CO)
  • Third in the NESCAC in blocks per game (1.42) and fourth in hitting percentage (.338).
