Jeffs Gain Revenge, Down Archrival Williams, 5-4
April 26 - After finishing second to the Ephs at last weekend’s NESCAC Championship Tournament, the fourth-ranked Amherst women’s tennis team gained sweet revenge with a 5-4 win over seventh-ranked Williams College Saturday afternoon in Williamstown. The victory was Amherst’s second over Williams this year. The Jeffs also upended the two-time defending national champion Ephs during the fall season, 6-3. Full Story

Raverta Named NESCAC Rookie of the Year;
Raverta, Hedrick, Agarwal, Holt, Miller, Molchen & Murphy Earn All-NESCAC Honors

April 22 - Amherst first-year sensation Kristen Raverta was named the NESCAC Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Year on Tuesday, heading a list of seven Amherst players to earn All-NESCAC honors, as determined by results from the conference championship tournament held at Williams College over the weekend. The Rookie of the Year Award was Amherst’s second in a row, after sophomore Rachel Holt earned NESCAC, Regional and National Rookie of the Year honors in 2002. Full Story

Fourth-Ranked Jeffs Fall Just Short at NESCAC Championship Tourney
April 21 - Competition was fierce at 2003 NESCAC Women’s Tennis Championship Tournament, held at Williams College over the weekend, as the host Ephs - ranked seventh nationally in the latest ITA poll - edged out fourth-ranked Amherst and fifth-ranked Tufts to take the conference title for the third straight year. Amherst and Tufts ended the tournament in a tie for second place. Full Story

Fourth-Ranked Jeffs Set for NESCAC Championship Tournament at Williams
April 17 - Williams College will defend their conference title this weekend as they host the 2003 NESCAC Women’s Tennis Championship Friday, April 18, through Sunday, April 20. Entering the tournament, five NESCAC teams are ranked among the top 25 teams in the latest national poll. Amherst, currently ranked fourth nationally, has defeated five teams in the top 25 including a 6-3 victory over fifth-ranked Tufts on April 15. The Jeffs won the New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament held in October edging seven other NESCAC schools, including Tufts and Williams, who finished second and third respectively. Fourth-Ranked Women's Tennis Downs Tufts, 6-3
April 15 - The fourth-ranked Amherst women's tennis team downed host Tufts University, 6-3, Tuesday afternoon. Jeff sophomores Rachel Holt and Tristan Hedrick each posted doubles and singles wins for the second consecutive match. Full Story

Third-Ranked Amherst Pastes 26th-Ranked Middlebury, 7-2
April 12 - The third-ranked Amherst women’s tennis team patiently waited for sunny skies on Saturday and then dismantled visiting 26th-ranked Middlebury College, 7-2. The Jeffs, who improved to 10-3, won five out of six singles and two out of three doubles matches to clinch the victory. Sophomores Rachel Holt and Tristan Hedrick each posted doubles and singles wins for Amherst. Full Story

Seventh-Ranked Women's Tennis Downs Ninth-Ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps
March 22 - The seventh-ranked Amherst women's tennis team wrapped up its spring trip with an 8-1 victory over ninth-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday. With the victory, the Jeffs improve to 9-3 overall. Full Story

Doubles Point Critical in Seventh-Ranked Jeffs' 4-3 Loss at Div. I Cal State Fullerton
March 20 - The doubles point proved to be crucial as the Division I Cal State Fullerton women's tennis team eked out a 4-3 victory over visiting Amherst on Wednesday afternoon. The Jeffs and Titans split six singles matches, but Cal Fullerton took two out of three in doubles play to seal the win. Sophomores Tristan Hedrick, Erin Murphy and junior Wallis Molchen each posted singles wins for Amherst, which fell to 8-3. Full Story

Women's Tennis Opens Spring Slate In California with 9-0 Loss to Emory, 6-3 Win at Pomona-Pitzer
March 18 - The seventh-ranked Amherst women’s tennis team opened its spring slate in California with a 9-0 loss to second-ranked Emory University and a 6-3 win over sixth-ranked Pomona-Pitzer. Both matches were played on the Pomona-Pitzer campus. Shaking off Sunday’s whitewash loss to Emory, the Jeffs swept all six singles matches in Monday’s win at Pomona-Pitzer, which improved Amherst’s overall record to 8-2. Full Story

Women's Tennis Wins New England Championship
October 21 - The Amherst women's tennis team, fresh off a stunning 6-3 win over two-time defending national champion Williams College, played to another definitive win - this time, a first-place finish at this weekend's New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament, played at Amherst. The Jeffs claimed all three doubles bracket titles en route to the victory, while first-year Kristin Raverta snatched the No.1 singles championship from Trinity College's Diana Goldman, 6-1, 6-2. Jeffs Upset Two-Time Defending National Champ Williams, 6-3
October 12 - Behind a three-match sweep in doubles play, the Amherst women's tennis team upset two-time defending national champion Williams College 6-3 on Saturday. First-year Kristen Raverta, sophomore Rachel Holt and senior co-captain Paige Lawrence each posted singles victories and contributed to doubles wins for the Jeffs, who improved to 7-1 on the season. Women's Tennis Notches Three Straight Victories
October 7 - After competing in the OMNI/ITA last weekend the women's tennis team downed Colby College (9-0), Bates College (9-0), and Bowdoin College (7-2) this weekend. With the victories, the Jeffs improved to 6-1 overall. Full Story

Holt Notches Top Spot at Women's Tennis Omni ITA Regional Championship
September 29 - Sophomore Rachel Holt rallied to down Coast Guard's Cheryl Hickey in three sets, taking home the Omni Hotels East Regional Championship hosted by Bowdoin College on Sunday. Jeff senior Paige Lawrence and first-year Kristen Raverta reached the doubles final before being outdueled by Williams College's Julie Mallory and Kate Troy. Full Story

Women's Tennis Blanks Wesleyan, 9-0
September 20 - The women's tennis team downed visiting NESCAC foe Wesleyan University, 9-0, Friday afternoon. With the victory the Jeffs improved to 3-1 overall while the Cardinals dropped to 1-1. Full Story

Jeffs Give Division I UMass a Run For Its Money
September 16 - The women's tennis team gave Division I power UMass-Amherst a run for it s money on Tuesday - including singles wins by Amherst sophomore Tristan Hedrick and senior co-captain Paige Lawrence - but fell to the Minutewomen, 5-4. Hedrick also teamed with classmate Rachel Holt for an 8-4 Amherst doubles victory, while Lawrence and first-year Kristen Raverta posted an 8-6 doubles win. Full Story

Women's Tennis Dismantles Skidmore, 9-0
September 16 - The women's tennis team powered its way to a 9-0 sweep over Skidmore College on Sunday, bringing the Amherst record to 2-0 following Saturday's impressive 9-0 run over NESCAC foe Trinity College. Full Story

Women's Tennis Blanks Trinity in Season-Opener, 9-0
September 14 - The women's tennis team blanked visiting Trinity College, 9-0, in its season-opener on Saturday afternoon. Jeff sophomore Tristan Hedrick paced the hosts with a 6-0, 6-1 singles win over Bantam senior Courtney Sargeant. Full Story

National Power Amherst Looks to Advance to NCAA Quarterfinals for the Sixth Straight Season
August 12 - In what has become a yearly ritual, the 2001-02 Amherst women's tennis team played their way into the NCAA Elite Eight, marking their fifth straight advance into the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament. Along the way, the squad hosted and won the NCAA Northeast Regional for the second consecutive year, finishing seventh nationally and second in the Northeast in the final ITA rankings. The 2002-03 Jeffs return the bulk of their roster, including sophomore All-American Rachel Holt. Full Preview
