Fourth-Ranked Jeffs Drop NCAA Third-Place Match to Archrival Williams;
Raverta, Hedrick & Holt Eliminated in NCAA Singles Play

May 17 - After falling to Washington & Lee University in the NCAA Semifinals, hosted by the University of Redlands (CA), on Thursday, the Amherst women’s tennis team dropped its NCAA third-place match to archrival Williams College, 5-4, on Friday. Amherst’s Kristen Raverta, Tristan Hedrick and Rachel Holt each went on to play in the NCAA Singles Championships, which began on Saturday. Of the three, only Holt advanced to the second round, where she fell to Washington & Lee’s Lindsay Hagerman. Full Story

Fourth-Ranked Jeffs Bow to No. 2 Washington & Lee in NCAA Semifinals
May 15 - The fourth-ranked Amherst women's tennis team suffered a 7-2 setback to second-ranked Washington & Lee University in the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament, hosted by the University of Redlands (CA), on Thursday. Washington & Lee will take on top-ranked Emory University for the national championship Friday at 2 p.m. Amherst will play archrival Williams College in the third-place match Friday at 11 a.m. Full Story

Fourth-Ranked Jeffs Advance to NCAA Final Four with Quarterfinal Win Over DePauw
May 14 - The fourth-ranked Amherst women’s tennis team advanced to the NCAA Final Four for the fifth time in the last six years on Wednesday with a 5-4 NCAA Quarterfinal win over sixth-ranked DePauw University at the University of Redlands (CA). The Jeffs will take on second-ranked Washington & Lee University - which downed No. 12 Pomona-Pitzer 8-1 in the quarterfinals - Thursday at 1 p.m. The winner will advance to the NCAA Championship match against either Emory University or two-time defending NCAA Champion Williams College, Friday at 2 p.m. Full Story

Amherst Women's Tennis, Lacrosse Teams Vie for Respective National Championships this Week
May 13 - After advancing through their respective NCAA Tournaments with resounding wins in regional play, the Amherst College women’s tennis and women’s lacrosse teams will each vie for a coveted national championship this week. The women’s tennis team, ranked fourth in the latest ITA national poll, opens play in the NCAA Elite Eight - hosted by the University of Redlands (CA) - Wednesday at 1 p.m., with a quarterfinal matchup against sixth-ranked DePauw University. The third-ranked women’s lacrosse team has advanced all the way to the NCAA Semifinals - hosted by St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY - and will face the second-ranked College of New Jersey, Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Full Story

Raverta Named ITA Northeast Rookie of the Year;
Jeffs Set for Sixth Straight Trip to NCAA Quarterfinals

May 7 - For the second straight season, the NESCAC Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Year has gone on to win ITA Northeast Rookie of the Year honors. This time, Amherst first-year Kristen Raverta pulled the feat, duplicating that of sophomore teammate Rachel Holt, who won both awards last spring. Amherst (14-3) advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the sixth straight season with Sunday’s 9-0 second-round win over visiting Vassar. Full Story

Fourth-Ranked Jeffs Advance to NCAA Quarterfinals After Blanking 18th-Ranked Vassar, 9-0
May 4 - The fourth-ranked and top-seeded Amherst women's tennis team advanced to the NCAA "Elite Eight" after blanking visiting 18th-ranked and third-seeded Vassar College, 9-0, in the NCAA Tournament Northeast Regional on Sunday afternoon. With the victory, the Jeffs improve to 14-3 overall while the Brewers season comes to an end at 21-4. Full Story

Fourth-Ranked Jeffs to Host NCAA Division III Northeast Regional on Saturday and Sunday
April 30 - The fourth-ranked Amherst women’s tennis team earned a No. 1 seed and is one of two host sites for NCAA Division III Northeast Regional play, which begins this Saturday and Sunday at the Amherst College courts. With a 13-3 overall record, the Jeffs drew a first-round bye and, on Sunday (1 p.m.), will face the winner of Saturday’s first-round match between second-seeded Bowdoin (13-6) and third-seeded Vassar (20-3). The winner will advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals, which, along with the NCAA Semifinals and Finals, will be played at the University of Redlands, Redlands, California, May 14-19. Full Story

Fourth-Ranked Jeffs Hammer Wellesley, 9-0
April 28 - One day after stunning two-time defending national champion Williams College, the fourth-ranked Amherst women’s tennis team steamrolled visiting Wellesley College, 9-0, on Sunday. The Jeffs won every set en route to the lopsided victory and dropped just six games in singles play. Amherst, which concluded regular season play at 13-3, has qualified for its sixth straight NCAA Tournament and will host regional play this Saturday and Sunday. Full Story
