2002 Amherst Women's Soccer Milestones


TEAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Finished with an 8-5-2 overall record (5-2-2 in conference play).
  • Earned the fourth seed and a first-round home game in the NESCAC Postseason Championship Tournament, where they fell to visiting Connecticut College, 2-1, ending Amherst’s season and snapping a six-game unbeaten streak.

INDIVIDUAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Winner of the 2002 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Women's Committee Award of Excellence.
  • Notched her 200th career victory as the Jeffs downed visiting non-league foe Smith College, 2-0, on Thursday, September 12.


  • Senior co-captain goalkeeper Brooke Diamond (Longmeadow, MA)
  • First-Team All-NESCAC.
  • Named Verizon/CoSIDA District 1 All-Academic for the second straight season.
  • NESCAC Fall All-Academic.
  • Fourth in the NESCAC in goals against average (1.06) and ninth in saves per game (5.14).


  • Senior midfielder Katelyn McCabe (W. Hartford, CT)
  • Second-Team All-NESCAC.


  • Junior midfielder Sara Elkins (Berkeley Hts., NJ)
  • Second-Team All-NESCAC.


  • Sophomore midfielder Adrienne Showler (Ottawa, Ontario)
  • Second-Team All-NESCAC.
  • Earned NESCAC Player of the Week honors on Monday, October21, after notching her first career hat trick in a 4-0 win over NESCAC rival Wesleyan University.
  • 10th in the NESCAC in goals per game (0.47).


  • Sophomore midfielder Ashley Harmeling (N. Reading, MA)
  • Second-Team All-NESCAC.
  • Sixth in the NESCAC in goals per game (0.60), ninth in points per game (1.27).
