November 23, 2002

NORTHFIELD, MN - Amherst College sophomore sensation Carter Hamill (Richmond, VA) earned All-America honors for the second straight year on Saturday with a 10th place individual finish at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, hosted by St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota.

Hamill covered the 6-kilometer course in 21:52.3, just 1:32 behind Wartburg College sophomore Missy Buttry, who claimed the women’s individual crown with a time of 20:17.3.

NESCAC rival Williams College won the women’s team championship behind respective fifth-, sixth- and seventh-play finishes by first-years Caroline Cretti and Michelle Rorke and sophomore Jennifer Campbell.

Hamill continues to wrack up impressive achievements as her career progresses. As a freshman, Hamill finished 18th at the 2001 cross country nationals, won a 5,000-meter national championship at the indoor track national meet and finished third at 5,000 meters as an outdoor track All-American.
