Women Seventh, Men Eighth at NESCAC Cross Country Championships

GRAFTON, MA - The Amherst women's cross country team tied with Tufts University, pulling in a seventh-place performance behind first-place Williams College in the 11-team field at Saturday's NESCAC Cross Country Championships. Meanwhile, the Amherst men countered with an eighth-place showing, trailing first-place Bowdoin College.

All-American sophomore Carter Hamill (Richmond, VA) earned First-Team All-NESCAC honors with a sixth-place, 18:21.48 finish. Junior Erinn White (Watertown, NY) was the next Amherst woman to cross the line - her 36th-place, 19:35.54 finish was just ahead of junior teammate Helen Dole (Shelburne Falls, MA), who brought a 39th-place, 19:39.91 finish to the mix. Senior co-captain Alison Dimon (Rye, NY) followed up with a 44th-place, 19:44.59 day, and first-year Jenny Horowitz (Waban, MA) grabbed 54th place in 20:04.55. Seniors Laurel Kilgour (Clifton Park, NY) and co-captain Hilary Plum (Storrs, CT) rounded out the women's day, bringing home respective 57th and 59th places.

On the men's side, junior John Stanton-Geddes (Glendale, MO) earned Second-Team All-NESCAC accolades with a team-leading 11th-place finish at 26:13.41. First-year Fraser Kitchell (Seattle, WA) followed up in 27th place, and senior co-captain Carson Taylor (S. Windsor, CT) bolstered the Amherst board with a 38th-place 27:11.48. The last four Amherst runners finished within ten seconds of each other - sophomore Zeke Phillips (Newton, MA), first-year Chase Bourke (Chevy Chase, MD), sophomore Dave Molina (Fairview Park, OH) and junior Andrew Schneider (Saratoga Springs, NY) reserved 48th, 52nd, 53rd and 57th places, respectively.

On Saturday, both the men and women's teams will head to Williamstown for the ECAC Championship.
