Amherst Women's 23rd, Men 27th at N.E. Cross Country Championships

BOSTON, MA The Amherst women's and men's cross-country teams ran through harsh conditions on Friday to take home respective 23rd and 27th place finishes at New England Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships at Boston's Franklin Park. Sophomore All-American Carter Hamill (Richmond, VA) was the top finisher for the women, earning All-New England honors with a 14th-place, 17:52 showing.

Junior Helen Dole (Shelburne Falls, MA) trailed Hamill, finishing with a 126th-place time of 19:35. Three more Jeffs first-year Margaret Davis (Richmond, VA), senior Alison Dimon (Rye, NY) and first-year Jenny Horowitz (Waban, MA) cracked the 20-minute mark, and first-year Jessamyn Conell-Price (Palo Alto, CA) rounded out the list of Amherst finishers at a robust 20:26. Boston College claimed the women's team title, while NESCAC rival Williams College snagged second place.

On the men's side, junior standout John Stanton-Geddes (Glendale, MO) paved the way for Amherst, grabbing 77th place with a time of 25:49. Sophomore Matthew Katz (Tallahassee, FL) wasn't far behind with a 110th-place, 26:06 showing. Senior Carson Taylor (S. Windsor, CT) finished his 26:44 day in 172nd place, and junior Andrew Schneider (Saratoga Springs, NY) also ran well, posting a 187th-place time of 26:52. Sophomore Dave Molina (Fairview Park, OH) and first-year Dave Schreiner (Manhattan Beach, CA) rounded out the field at 27:04 and 27:15, respectively. Providence College dominated the meet to take home first place in the team standings.

Amherst will take two full two weeks off before traveling to Williams for the Little Three Championships on Saturday, Oct. 26.
