Carol Knerr and Christine Paradis join forces once again in 2002, blending youth and experience to form one of the most formidable sideline tandems in the nation. Knerr took the administrative lead last fall after a season as Paradis' top assistant and a year and a half as a two-sport assistant coach at Ivy League power Dartmouth College, where she helped lead the Big Green to an ECAC Field Hockey Championship and an Ivy League title and subsequent trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals in women's lacrosse in 1999. The Wyndmoor, PA native was a standout women's lacrosse and field hockey player at the University of Richmond, where she was a four-year starter and captained both sports before graduating in 1998 with a degree in leadership studies and a minor in sports science.

Meanwhile, entering her ninth season, Paradis has molded Amherst field hockey into the strong program it is today, guiding the team to seven consecutive postseason appearances, including a trio of NCAA Tournament berths and a trip to the NCAA Championship final in 1999. She was an outstanding field hockey and lacrosse player at William & Mary before graduating in 1984 and was later chosen to represent the United States on both the U.S. National and World Cup Lacrosse teams. Paradis also gained valuable experience as an assistant coach at Springfield College and Yale University prior to taking over at Amherst, and has coached the women's lacrosse team to seven consecutive postseason appearances, including a trip to the NCAA Championship game in 2001 and a return trip to the Final Four last spring. Paradis is a two-time New England Region Field Hockey Coach of the Year and was recently inducted into the William & Mary Athletic Hall of Fame.
