Ouimet Named NFHCA Division III North Senior All-Star

AMHERST, MA Amherst College senior forward Abby Ouimet (Hatfield, MA) was one of just four field hockey players from the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) named to the Division III North Senior All-Star Team, selected by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA), on Thursday. Selected student-athletes will participate in the 2002 NFHCA Division III North/South Senior All-Star Game on Saturday, November 23, at Springfield College.

Ouimet is Amherst's third leading scorer with three goals on the season, while leading the 6-7 (3-5 NESCAC) Jeffs into contention for the seventh and final slot in the NESCAC Postseason Championship Tournament, set to kick off on Sunday.

She was a First-Team All-NESCAC and First-Team STX/NFHCA Division III New England West Region All-America selection as a junior, finishing third in the conference in scoring with 28 points on 12 goals and four assists. As a sophomore, Ouimet was Amherst's second leading scorer with a team-high eight goals, as the Jeffs advanced to their second consecutive NCAA Tournament.

Ouimet is also a First-Team All-American on the women's lacrosse team, and has helped lead Amherst to two straight NCAA Final Four appearances.

NESCAC players joining Ouimet on the Division III North Senior All-Star Team are Leah McClure from Bowdoin, Stefanie Noering from Williams and Wesleyan's Laura Pfeiffenberger.
