AMHERST, MA - Amherst College women's volleyball co-captain Erica Hewes (Pebble Beach, CA) was named Second-Team Verizon Academic All-District I by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The senior outside hitter is one of just two New England Small College Athletic Conference student-athletes named to the team, along with first-team pick Alexis Keeler from Wesleyan University. First-team selections now move on to the national Academic All-America ballot to be released in December.

A history major and a First-Team All-NESCAC honoree for the third consecutive season, Hewes led Amherst to a 24-7 overall record and the No. 3 seed in the NESCAC Postseason Championship Tournament, where the Jeffs bowed to eventual champion Williams College in the semifinals. She powered Amherst with a team high 4.33 kills per game - the fourth highest mark in the NESCAC - and graduates as the Jeffs' all-time leader in that category.

Along with classmate and fellow All-NESCAC co-captain Meredith DeMeules (Los Angeles), Hewes finishes her Amherst tenure with a 105-23 career record - including a pair of NESCAC championship crowns and three consecutive NCAA Tournament berths - cementing her graduating class as the winningest in school history.
