Women's X-C 7th; Men 19th, in New England Championship
October 12 - The Amherst men's and women's cross country teams traveled to the New England Cross Country Championships in Boston's Franklin Park on Friday and the Amherst women pulled off a seventh-place finish, while the men finished strong in 19th place. For the women, first-year phenom Carter Hamill (Richmond, VA) paced the Jeffs, running the course in 18:40, good for 23rd place overall, while the men were led through the course by first-year Matthew Katz (Tallahassee, FL), who notched a 67th place finish in 26:16. Women's X-C 3rd; Men 4th, in Tufts Invitational
September 29 - The Amherst College women's cross country team finished third, while the men's team finished fourth at the Tufts Invitational in Grafton, Mass. on Saturday. Both teams fared well despite several injuries, as the women recorded a third-place team finish with 64 points, trailing second-place Williams (54) and meet winner Middlebury (35). On the men's side, Amherst placed fourth with 96 points, trailing Bentley College (62), Williams (48) and host Tufts University (31). Full Story

Women's X-C Wins Codfish Bowl; Men Fourth
September 22 - The Amherst College men's and women's cross country teams showed strong performances at Saturday's annual Codfish Bowl, held in Boston's Franklin Park. The men finished in fourth place with 119 points, while the women, who show the promise of national prominence this year, brought home the gold for the second straight season, posting 76 points to cover second-place finisher Brandeis University's 81. Men's & Women's X-C Third At Panther Invite
September 15, 2001 - Both the Amherst College men's and women's cross country teams posted third-place team finishes out of eight-team fields at Saturday's Panther Invite at Middlebury College. The men's squad finished with a team-total of 54 points, behind St. Lawrence University's 42 and Keene State's 26. On the women's side, the Jeffs notched 76 points, trailing Middlebury's 37-point showing and Moravian College's 34. Full Story

Women Place First, Men Second, in Amherst Cross Country Opener
September 8 - The Amherst College women's cross country team kicked off the 2001-02 athletic season in grand fashion with a team victory in the season-opening Amherst Invite on Saturday, while the men's squad placed second. Martha Nelson and Ben Koyak were the top performers for the Jeffs. Full Story

Cross Country Eyes Return to Nationals
August 31 - The Amherst women's cross country team again looks strong, with nearly every scoring runner returning from a squad that qualified for the program's first-ever NCAA Championship meet last season, led by senior All-American Katie Scangos. Meanwhile, the men's team should turn heads as it returns a slew of talented runners, including junior Alex Lenkoski and senior Nathaniel Robinson. Full Story
