McGee Tabbed Hewlett Packard Division III All-American
December 12 - Amherst senior quad-captain Pat McGee cemented his standing as one of the best defensive tackles in school history by being named to the 24th Annual Hewlett-Packard NCAA Division III Football All-America Team on Wednesday. A Third-Team selection, McGee was one of just two players from the NESCAC to be so honored, along with Tufts senior offensive guard Mike Willey, who earned honorable mention status. Full Story

Jeffs Place Six on ECAC Northeast All-Star Team
December 7 - Amherst placed six players on the ECAC Division III Northeast Football All-Star Team, including first-team selections Pat McGee, Dan Lalli, Josh Ahearn and Geoff Bough. Senior linebacker Brian Landolfi and senior strong safety Jay Hutchins also earned second-team honors, tying Amherst with Plymouth State and Westfield State as Colleges with the most players selected. McGee & Bough Named All-East Region by Football Gazette
November 26 - Amherst senior quad-captain defensive tackle Pat McGee and junior punter Geoff Bough were named to the 2001 Football Gazette NCAA Division III All-East Region Team, as selected by the regions' sports information directors. As second-team selections, both will be listed on the national ballot used to select the national Football Gazette All-America Team. Full Story

McGee, Flavin & Whiting Rake in Yet More Postseason Honors
November 26 - Amherst senior defensive tackle Pat McGee was tabbed a Division II/III All-Star by the New England football writers, while senior tight end Matt Flavin and sophomore defensive back Paul Whiting were named to the 2001-02 Verizon Academic All-District I Football Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Flavin and Whiting will now move on to the national Academic All-America ballot to be released December 10. They were the only players from the NESCAC to earn Academic All-District honors. Football Rakes in All-NESCAC Honors; McGee Named Defensive Player of the Year
November 16 - Twelve different Amherst football players were named to the All-NESCAC first and second teams late Thursday afternoon, led by senior defensive tackle Pat McGee, who earned conference Defensive Player of the Year honors. In all, Amherst, which finished with a 7-1 record for the second straight season, placed seven players on the first team and five on the second, including seven overall on defense. Full Story

Football Falls at Williams, 23-20, in OT
November 10 - The previously undefeated Amherst football team took a 17-10 lead at the half but couldn't hold on, as host Williams College came from behind for a 23-30 overtime victory Saturday in Williamstown, claiming the outright Little Three and NESCAC Championships and finishing its season with a perfect 8-0 record. Unsung Heroes Abound at Amherst
November 9 - "Football, to anyone who knows it, is the ultimate team game," says Amherst head coach E.J. Mills. "It takes all 75 players to execute a game plan. Every guy, from the smallest role player to an All-American is just as important as the next." Amherst football's supporting cast is vitally important.
