Field Hockey Outlasts Wesleyan on Homecoming, 1-0
October 20 - Abby Ouimet (Hatfield, MA) scored her team-leading 11th goal in the first half as the Amherst College field hockey team knocked off Little Three rival Wesleyan University on Saturday, 1-0. The win gives Amherst (11-3, 6-3 league) a No. 4 seed in the NESCAC conference tournament, which begins on Sunday where the Jeffs play No. 5-seeded Colby at Bowdoin College at 3:30. Full Story

Field Hockey Headed for NESCAC Tourney
October 19 - The 10th ranked Amherst College field hockey team is guaranteed a spot in the seven-team NESCAC Championship Tournament, for which dates and times were announced this afternoon by the NESCAC. Middlebury College - which boasts a 7-1 conference record with one game remaining - earned the top seed and the honor of hosting the semifinals on Saturday, October 27, as well as the championship game on Sunday, October 28. First-round action will take place this Sunday, October 21, at Bowdoin College's Ryan Field. Full Story

Ackerman Leads No. 10 F-Hockey Past Tufts, 1-0
October 13 - Senior forward Robin Ackerman connected on the game's lone goal late in the first half to lead the 10th ranked Amherst College field hockey team to a 1-0 NESCAC victory over host Tufts University on Wednesday. With the win, Amherst (10-3/5-3 NESCAC) clinched a spot in the seven-team NESCAC Championship Tournament, which kicks off this Sunday at Bowdoin College. Full Story

No. 8 F-Hockey Upset at Williams, 3-0
October 13 - The eighth-ranked Amherst field hockey team fell to 9-3 overall and 4-3 in NESCAC play with a 3-0 upset loss at unranked conference-rival Williams College on Saturday. Amherst senior goaltender Beth Sensing finished with 13 saves in defeat. With the win, Williams (6-4/4-3) moved into a three-way tie with Amherst and Bowdoin College for third place in the NESCAC standings. Full Story

Ouimet's Twin Tallies Lead Jeffs Past Smith, 2-0
October 11 - Junior forward Abby Ouimet scored her team-leading ninth and 10th goals of the season - both in the second half - as the eighth-ranked Amherst field hockey team improved to 9-2 overall with a 2-0 shutout win at non-league foe Smith College (4-11) on Thursday night. Full Story

Amherst Field Hockey Falls to Middlebury, 1-0
October 6 - The Amherst College field hockey team's eight-game winning streak ended on Saturday as the No. 11 nationally-ranked Middlebury Panthers beat No. 6-ranked Amherst, 1-0. Middlebury improves its conference record to 6-0 and retains its lock atop the NESCAC standings, while Amherst falls to 4-2 in the conference (8-2 overall). Full Story

No. 6 Amherst Field Hockey Tops Trinity, 3-1
October 3 - The Amherst College field hockey team, ranked sixth in the latest STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll, scored three first half goals en route to a 3-1 victory at NESCAC foe Trinity College. The Jeffs improved to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in NESCAC play with the win. Full Story

Field Hockey Sixth in Latest STX/NFHCA Rankings
October 2 - Amherst rose to No. 6 in the STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association rankings on Tuesday on the strength of last Thursday's 4-2 win at non-league foe Mt. Holyoke and Saturday's 1-0 victory over then 12th ranked NESCAC rival Bowdoin College. The Jeffs - who climbed four spots from No. 10 in last week's poll - have now won seven straight, improving their record to 7-1 overall and 3-1 in NESCAC play after dropping their first game of the season at conference rival Colby College. Amherst Field Hockey Cruises Past M.I.T., 5-0
October 1 - Lauren Anderson (Far Hills, NJ) scored her first career goal 10 minutes into the game and the Amherst College field hockey team proceeded to cruise to a 5-0 victory over M.I.T. in a make-up game on Monday afternoon. The Jeffs outshot the Engineers 37-1 and improved their record to 7-1 overall. Full Story

Field Hockey Knocks Off Bowdoin, 1-0
September 29 - Junior forward Marcy Busch (Scarsdale, NY) knocked home a goal in the first period to give the Amherst College women's field hockey team a 1-0 victory over Bowdoin College on Saturday. The No. 10 ranked team in the country, Amherst improves its record to 6-1 overall (3-1 NESCAC), while Bowdoin, ranked No. 12 in the nation, drops to 6-2 (3-2 NESCAC). Full Story

No. 10 Amherst Field Hockey Downs Mt. Holyoke, 4-2
September 27 - The 10th ranked Amherst College field hockey team improved to 5-1 on the season with a 4-2 non-conference win at Mt. Holyoke College on Thursday. Senior forward Marcy Busch (Scarsdale, NY) paced the Jeffs with an assist and two goals - including what turned out to be the game-winner off a feed from fellow senior tri-captain Mairin Brady (Bethesda, MD) with 25:20 remaining in the second half. Amherst Field Hockey Spoils Conn. College Homecoming with 4-0 Win
September 22 - The Amherst field hockey team capped a dominating three-win week with a 4-0 victory at NESCAC rival Connecticut College on Saturday morning. The four Amherst goals came from four different players as the Jeffs connected twice in each half to improve to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in NESCAC play. Full Story

Field Hockey Sets School Record in 10-0 Win at WPI
September 20 - Senior tri-captain Marcy Busch and junior forward Abigail Ouimet each connected twice in the first half to lead the Amherst College field hockey team to a school-record 10-0 shutout-win at non-league foe WPI Thursday night. The 10-goal output was the highest in school history. The Jeffs had scored seven goals in three previous games - most recently in 7-2 win over Western New England College in 1993. Full Story

Field Hockey Surprises Springfield, 2-0
September 18 - The Amherst College field hockey team surprised Springfield College, the No. 3 ranked team in the nation, with a 2-0 shutout victory at Hitchcock Field on Tuesday. The Jeffs were dominant from the beginning, jumping ahead with a goal early, while only allowing Springfield one shot in the entire game. Full Story

Field Hockey Cruises Past Bates, 4-1
September 15 - The Amherst College field hockey team scored three second half goals en route to a 4-1 win over Bates College. Junior forward Abby Ouimet was the story as she scored the first two goals and assisted on the third. Full Story

Field Hockey Drops Season-Opener at Colby, 1-0
September 9 - In dramatic fashion, the Colby College field hockey team upset visiting Amherst College - which finished 14-3 and hosted one of four NCAA regionals last season - 1-0 in what was both teams' season and NESCAC opener on Sunday. The host White Mules got the winning tally from Marcia Ingraham on a penalty corner pass from Lyndsay Peters and Kelly Welsh with 20:51 left in the first half. Full Story

2001 Field Hockey Season Preview
August 29 - After a school-record 13-1 regular season, the 2000 Amherst field hockey team not only earned its second consecutive NCAA Tournament bid, but also the honor of hosting one of the tournament's four regionals on Hitchcock Field. This season promises even more success as the Jeffs eye a third-straight NCAA bid and a shot at the NESCAC Championship. Full Story
