1997 NESCAC Men's Tennis Championship

AMHERST, Massachusetts -- Williams won five of six singles flights and all three doubles flights toward its four straight NESCAC Men's Tennis Championship title. Jon Stuart (Chestnut Hill, MA) defeated Bruce Jacobs (Pittsburgh, PA) at No. 1 singles while teammates Sherman Lim (Singapore) and Andrew Fagenholz (Erie, PA) defeated Connecticut College's No. 1 team for the doubles title.

Amherst Co-Captain Bruce Jacobs won the prestigious Clarence C. Chaffee Award for senior leadership and sportsmanship. This is the third Amherst player in the thirteen-year history of the Chaffee Award, established in the third year of the NESCAC Men's Tennis Championship Tournament to honor a former Williams College coach.
