Devin Moriarty Named All-America

AMHERST, Massachusetts -- Devin Moriarty (Springfield, MA), a defensive tackle for Amherst football, was named to the Division III Burger King All-America Team as selected by the American Football Coaches Association. This is the only All-America team chosen exclusively by coaches, who have deemed Moriarty among the 25 best Division III football players in the nation.

Moriarty led Amherst to its second straight year with the league's best defense. The Jeffs allowed 93 points and 1,727 yards in eight games as the only NESCAC team to hold opponents to less than 100 points and fewer than 2,000 yards. The tackle concluded his senior season with a team-leading 16 hits behind the line of scrimmage, including nine sacks for 56 yards. He leveled three against Colby along with 12 tackles and blocking a punt to earn NESCAC Defensive Player of the Week honors. Moriarty finished as the team's fourth-leading tackler with 52 hits (25 solo).

The Law, Jurisprudence and Social Thought major has also been recognized as a NESCAC All-Star, the NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year, and an All-New England selection by the New England Football Writers. Over four years, Moriarty has compiled a 24-7-1 career record.
