Three Women's Soccer Players Gain All-New England Honors

AMHERST, Massachusetts -- Three members of the NCAA Final Four Amherst College Lady Jeff soccer team gained post-season recognition as All-New England team members on two separate polls. Junior midfielder Shaunette Richards made the first team of both NSCAA/Umbro and NEWISA voting, while Erika Johnson, another junior midfielder, was named to the second team of both polls. Junior back Ellie Hickerson gained first team NEWISA and second team NSCAA/Umbro. Members of all-region first teams now qualify for All-America honors.

The Lady Jeffs posted their best season ever with a finish in the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament. Hosting the National Championship on their home fields, Amherst handed UCSD only their second deficit of the year before losing to the eventual national champions. During the regular season, the Jeffs claimed a piece of the Little III title with a tie with Williams and a win over Wesleyan, along with an upset of then No. 1-ranked Bowdoin in Brunswick, Maine. Amherst women9s soccer finished the season with a 12-2-3 record.
